    Great experience

by Jim M on 9/5/23Saratoga Race Course - Saratoga Springs

We had a great time at the Rail at the 1863 Club. The entry through seating went extremely fast and took only a minute or two before we were at the table and looking at the races. The service was outstanding as we never had to wait on anything. It was also a nice touch having private tellers to take the bets if you went old school and didn't want to use a betting app. They give you a wrist strap that allows you to come and go from the Club. We walked over to the paddock area several times and checked out the grandstand and picnic areas. Everyone we met was very friendly and helpful. We purchased a parking pass through Ticketmaster and it said Section RECPK and Entry Info REC HALL PREF. However, nobody was able to tell us where that lot was so we entered the main gate and one of the people working there had no idea either. She told us to just park in the A and B lot which was very kind of her. That lot was just a short walk to the Club and worked out perfectly for us. That was our first time at Saratoga but we'll definitely be back.

    Family Reunion

    by KK on 8/30/23

Made reservations at The Rail - 1863 club for a Sunday at the races with my family. Was there last year as well. It is an amazing way to spend a day at the races and have the luxury of dining in an airconditioned restaurant with a wonderful brunch and snacks in the afternoon. Enjoyed the private betting windows, clean uncrowded bathrooms and the opportunity to roan around the track to see the horses up close. It is the best way to go to avoid the crowds. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is because last year the food was better and the afternoon snacks had more variety. Still a great experience for a day at the races.

    Sunday Brunch

    by Marky Mark on 8/30/23

We have always had a great time at the Rail in the 1863 club. The only disappointment was, when I went at the end of July, and last year on Sunday for the Sunday brunch, there was a made to order omelette section which everyone loved. I brought new friends this year, and they did not have it. That was kind of disappointing. When they open the brunch, they had muffins, bread, and things like that, but they had no butter. When I asked the guy, he said they ran out before they even started the day. I find it hard to believe that they would run out of something as simple as that, when I asked him why he did not order more for today, he did not know. Besides that, that French food was very good. We will definitely be going back again next year.

    Mediocre at best

    by RaRa on 8/28/23

Beautiful space and wonderful staff (including ticket takers, hostess, and buffet staff). Our waitress Gwen was GREAT! For the price point that is where the positives stop. The negatives… FREEZING inside(even the meant were cold), especially on a day that was rainy and kinda chilly outside to begin with. The food was just okay. Cold buffet side was very blah and not many options. Last year at least had a great cheese and meat selection. The hot side was equally as blah. Overcooked veggies, rice, chicken and salmon. All were fine but nothing great. The flank steak and sauce were excellent but were only being offered tiny little portion. Dessert options was nothing more than cookies and brownies that you would find in the bakery of your local grocery store. Afternoon snack was chips, salas and guac… all great! But the chips that were being served for 100s were in a small bowl by the time a couple people went through the line the bowl was empty and had to wait for staff to go get more. Huge bowls of guac and salsa and smallest bowl of chips to go along with. Should have had multiple stations of this snack set up. Suggest replenishing the dessert partway through the day as well. Nothing to really munch on after the buffet closed at 3:30. We had someone in our party that was gluten free and SLIM pickings for her to be able to eat. Lastly again for the price I would love to see some sort of a dress code enforced in there. My party was all nicely dressed and the table next to us had athletic gear and cut off shorts. Doesn’t need to be as formal as a box but I think asking the men to have pants and collared shirt and women dress or pants isn’t too much to ask when paying a premium to sit in that location. We sat in the turf terrace as few weeks ago and honestly was much nicer of and experience! Would 100% choose to sit there again next year over 1863. I asked everyone in my party and this was a group response, but we all agreed that for the price this area could be stepped up a lot of notches.

    Ups and Downs

    by Terry on 8/9/23

The service at the 1863 Club was outstanding but the buffet was not as good as I remember in prior years. Not a lot of variety. Also, was told “snacks” would be served at 3:30 or 4:00. Consisted of tortilla chips and some salsa (which they ran out of quickly and had no more). Table was comfortable and nicely air conditioned room. Horse breaking down while we were there also put a damper on the day. Have one more set of tickets to the 1863 Club later in the meet. Hoping to have a better experience next time.

    Disappointing

    by Steph on 8/7/23

This is my third time at The Rail. The first time was a great experience. Last year was okay. This year was extremely disappointing. The table and location I reserved was great. The food and service was horrible. For what we paid I believe the food should be upgraded (it was really terrible), bring back the burgers and hotdogs and fries, maybe include a drink or water and consider including parking in the cost. I will not be returning and neither will my other 5 guests.

    Food was not great.

    by ajm on 8/1/23

Good atmosphere and service. Our waiter was great. The location on the rail was awesome. For the price of the ticket, the food was not very good. Not sure it is worth the price.

    Excellent Day at the Track.

    by Fredo on 7/30/23

Had a table for 8. Everyone had a terrific time. We loved the space; the food was good; the service was excellent and the ticket windows in the space made it very easy to place bets up until the last second. Easy to go outside to the rail to watch the races! Will go again soon.
