Hard Nut
Paramount Theatre - Seattle
I came, watched and left a little underwhelmed to be honest. Dancing talent wasn't really top level but was okay. The snow scene was pretty cool. Scene transitions were smooth. Humor was good. If looking to kill a little time in Seattle, this would be alright.

Fabulous Holiday Fun !!
Paramount Theatre - Seattle
This humorous musical-ballet is a spoof on the classic Nutcracker. The live orchestra music is the same but the story is thrown forward into mid-20th century. A mix of dancers in comic and brilliant costumes lead us through similar vignettes we recognize from the original ballet. The special effects and stage scenery are pure delight! This show is magical, fun and so holiday! Our audience clapped long at the end of the performance! Notes: Before the curtain, read the story line in the program to understanding the fantasy tale. There is no dialogue on stage. This was so good I wish I had tickets to see it again today! Bravo!!

Wonderfully Entertaining!!
Paramount Theatre - Seattle
We were so lucky to get such great seats and have a glimpse of the orchestra along with an amazing view of the stage! This was our first time seeing this wonderful performance and we enjoyed it so much! It was a feast for the eyes, with the exquisite dancing, choreography and festive costumes! We look forward to next year's performance!!

Perfect Holiday Experience
Paramount Theatre - Seattle
The Hard Nut is a modern variation on the traditional Nutcracker ballet. Choreographed by Seattle's own Mark Morris it evokes comic books from the 1940's and 50's. In his words, kids love to be scared as part of their entertainment. His version changes nothing about the story and of course the Tchaikovsky score is faithfully played. The orchestra was spectacular, the dancing superb! See the original but go see this as well.

Interesting twist to the nutcracker
Paramount Theatre - Seattle
Great venue, the first act was hilarious and well done, but the second act was a bit harder to follow. I enjoyed the dancing but could have used more ballet in my opinion

Expected something entirely different
Paramount Theatre - Seattle
I expected a more riske version of the nutcracker. I don't go see the nutcracker, because it is boring. This claimed to be a different take on the story, but not enough to make it better. The cast was flawless The costumes and set were lovely The music was performed well The story lacked any attention grabbing creativity to claim it to be a different take on an old boring show, I was not the only one that expected more. Online, people were selling and giving away tickets because last minute they were not able to attend. They were placing a "riske" warning on their tickets. NO it was about as conservative as it gets.

Such fun!!
Paramount Theatre - Seattle
I really hope The Hard Nut comes back to Seattle again soon so I can bring my whole family to see it. After so many years of enjoying many different Nutcracker performances, this version really raised the bar and made it super fun again.

Having seen the PNB version several times over the years, this was a fun, refreshing take on a familiar story.

The Hard Nut
Paramount Theatre - Seattle
This was a great play. Creative off shoot of the Nutcracker. Comical and light hearted. And the Balet was Riveting. Though I wish the show somehow could have been a tad longer.
