I applaud the planning group for an undertaking of this size. I drove in from Houston because I wanted a different experience than my hometown con. The advance ticketing app worked very very well. I was very impressed with its efficiency. That said, it gained me virtually no time saved at the venue, as everyone was queued up into one massive line outside the doors in the heat. I was VERY glad that I had dressed for comfort, and not cosplay. Once the majority of the line moved inside, however…the show floor became packed to the gills! There was scarcely enough room to navigate the few aisles of vendors, and if anyone stopped to look at booth merchandise, the flow literally ground to a halt. I didn’t necessarily feel unsafe, but it was far from comfortable and being that close together brings in people’s questionable hygiene (which was bleah!). I’m unsure what was on the second level, as it wasn’t clear how to get up there and the elevator was overtaxed. Overall, I paid for a 2-day pass and wound up staying for less than three hours. I appreciate the comic vendors, although they had limited space to display and most had crazy high prices. I heard a child ask “Do you have any comics that don’t cost so much?” :(
Would consider a return visit, but would be more careful re: vendor list and probably go with a 1-day pass.
