There's a lot more to being a Vegas showgirl than just strutting on stage in your finest bustier and shaking your thang while the crowd goes wild. Fortunately, there's a school where you can train to get your MBA in T&A. At X Burlesque University, you and your girlfriends get a 75-minute afternoon crash course in all aspects of putting on a saucy show. Instruction comes from seasoned performers — the stars of the popular X Burlesque revue at the Flamingo Las Vegas. A makeup tutorial ensures your lips and lashes are sufficiently glittered-up before you get outfitted with a pink boa to learn proper bump ‘n' grind techniques on the very stage where the X Burlesque crew performs at night. (And if you're feeling a little shy, don't worry — while your instructor may be wearing little more than a G-string, you'll be keeping your clothes on.) At the end of the session, you'll be awarded with a souvenir photo and XBU diploma, lest anyone ever question your sexy credentials.
X Burlesque University Background
In a city synonymous with adult-oriented amusements, X Burlesque's topless revue has stood out from the girly-show pack with its combination of eroticism and edginess. Launched in 2002 by entertainment impresarios Matt and Angela Stabile, X Burlesque has become a Vegas late-night institution thanks to a production that's part Victoria's Secret catalog and part heavy-metal concert, with dancers doffing their garments to expertly choreographed sets soundtracked by Led Zeppelin and Metallica. While it made its home at Bugsy's Cabaret inside the Flamingo, X Burlesque has toured casinos all across North and South America. Starting in 2011, the Stabiles introduced X Burlesque University, an afternoon workshop where attendees can learn how to shake it like a proper Vegas showgirl from the show's team of dancers and, since its launch, XBU has become a popular attraction for girls-day-out trips and bachelorette-party gatherings.
The women that taught our class were super kind, welcoming, and inclusive of everyone in the class. We came for a bachelorette party and this was a great way to kick off our weekend! I would suggest you come feeling beautiful with hair ready to toss and flip!
They were late arriving and opening the door. Once in there are two dancers who facilitate. You take about 25 min to apply fake eye lashes and lipstick (Wet and Wild) they give you. The. You go on stage and learn a brief dance. Perform it a couple of times then they give you a photo and diploma. Done in 45-50 min Fun to do with group of girls perhaps but to me overpriced experience. Suggest giving discount to the show or adding a cocktail.
I attended XBU 2 weeks ago and had an amazing time! It was such a fun experience learning showgirl makeup and showgirl choreography. I went with a couple girlfriends and they had fun time as well. Definitely learned some great tips on how to put fake eyelashes on. The choreography part was great! I was able to take some moves me for when I went out later to the club. I would recommend this class to everyone. It's a must!
My girlfriends and I came to Vegas looking for some unique things to do besides the typical nightclub/drinking experience. We found X Burlesque University online and thought "that's definitely something worth trying out!" We showed up to a packed class at the Flamingo not really knowing what to expect. When the class started we were greeted by an actual Las Vegas stage performer but a Las Vegas choreographer as well. (So Cool!) We learned so much about makeup and how to glam ourselves up for the nights to come as well as being taught burlesque dancing with boas that we could take home to our boyfriends/husbands! Throughout the class we laughed so much and all around just had a blast!! I would highly recommend this to anyone! Whether you are by yourself or in a group it doesn't matter, we were all engaged with each other and had so much fun!! Hope this helps!
This experience is unlike anything else in vegas. X Burlesque University would be fun with just you and a friend, but an absolute BLAST in a larger group! Do your self and your friends a favor and check this out. A+++
