About

ELF The Musical is the hilarious tale of Buddy, a young orphan child who mistakenly crawls into Santa’s bag of gifts and is transported back to the North Pole. Unaware that he is actually human, Buddy’s enormous size and poor toy-making abilities cause him to face the truth. With Santa’s permission, Buddy embarks on a journey to New York City to find his birth father, discover his true identity, and help New York remember the true meaning of Christmas. This modern day Christmas classic is sure to make everyone embrace their inner ELF.

The New York Times says that ELF is “SPLASHY, PEPPY, SUGAR-SPRINKLED HOLIDAY ENTERTAINMENT!” USA Today calls ELF, “ENDEARINGLY GOOFY!” Variety proclaims, “ELF is happy enough for families, savvy enough for city kids and plenty smart for adults!”

Based on the beloved 2003 New Line Cinema hit, ELF features songs by Tony Award nominees Matthew Sklar and Chad Beguelin (The Wedding Singer), with a book by Tony Award winners Thomas Meehan (Annie, The Producers, Hairspray) and Bob Martin (The Drowsy Chaperone).

    Not fun or funny

by Amy on 12/19/22Palace Theatre Columbus - Columbus

I wanted to like this and was so excited to attend. It felt like bad community theater with good sets. Songs were terrible, it wasn’t funny, it felt poorly cast… the cast did try, but they couldn’t save the content. Even my 12 year old asked to leave at intermission. It was a stinker.

    Not impressed

by mysELF on 12/19/22Palace Theatre Columbus - Columbus

I was SO EXCITED to take my 3 and 6yr ood grandsons to their first musical. While they both were entranced by the dancing and singing....me not so much. I expected more of a production, it was a typical musical you could see at a high school auditorium.

    Colorful and full of cheer!

by Elf on 12/19/22Palace Theatre Columbus - Columbus

I felt the magic of Christmas with this fun and colorful musical. I danced in my seat, sang along and I was like a kid again. Thank you cast for such an amazing and heartfelt show!

    Funny Show

by Deb M on 12/19/22Palace Theatre Columbus - Columbus

This was a cute and funny show. I really enjoyed it. I only gave 4 stars because the venue has very small seats. They are tight and have almost no leg room.

Elf the musical was more than I expected. The show was so good, appropriate for all ages, and such a wonderful holiday experience. I highly recommend going if tickets are still available.

    Not good

by C on 12/19/22Palace Theatre Columbus - Columbus

Deviated too far from the original story, songs were not good, and Joni’s character was too angry talking about punching Buddy in the throat. Also too many adult jokes, it needs to be kept innocent per the main audience.

We loved the Play Elf & would recommend it!

by Frannie on 12/17/22Palace Theatre Columbus - Columbus

Because the show travels there were some rough patches with the scenery parts of the show. However, we loved the play. The singing, acting & over all atmosphere was wonderful. It really put us in the Christmas spirit.

    Awesome night

by GG on 12/17/22Palace Theatre Columbus - Columbus

My husband and I went to the show on 12/14/22. We both enjoyed it very much. Just enough different from the movie to add some more fun. The stage scenery and props were amazing!!! Would definitely go again.

    Horrible

by Buddy on 12/16/22Palace Theatre Columbus - Columbus

Show was delayed. They wouldn’t give us any information as to why or when it would start. It then starts with the worst sound you’ve ever heard in your life. Then it is paused for another 30 minutes for technical difficulties. Had to leave shortly after the delay due to the time. Horrendous show. Do better, people pay a lot to see this atrocity.

    Just Ok

by D on 12/16/22Palace Theatre Columbus - Columbus

They were still rehearsing at 7:15 and the show started at 7:30. It was cold and people were waiting outside until 7:20. There was a technical issue during the show which lead to another 25 minutes "intermission". You can tell it wasn't a polished show. 30% of people left at the true intermission because of how late it was

    Elf restores inner child

by I'm Me (Undefined) on 12/13/22DPAC - Durham Performing Arts Center - Durham

Great show...so many kids and parents dressed up in their Christmas fun...actors were well casted and talented...DPAC puts on a great show and the staff treated everyone so well...the Spirit of laughter and joy spread throughout the audience...could only have been better if more of my family was there in person instead of carried in my heart...

It was good...not the best ever!

by Sissy on 12/13/22Jacksonville Center for the Performing Arts - Moran Theater - Jacksonville

The set was amazing and the transitions were seamless. There really wasn't a star character that stood out to our group and the character of Elf was disappointing.

    Lackluster musical

by Tina R on 12/13/22Jacksonville Center for the Performing Arts - Moran Theater - Jacksonville

This musical does not compete with the wit and holiday spirit of the movie in the slightest. Additionally, the attempt at “adult humor” left the audience with inappropriate language used in front of children. Very few of the cast were exceptional singers, but they had little to work with. I would save your money and attend a much better rated show. This one really should no longer be touring.
