About

Tig (affectionately named by her brother as a child) was born in Jackson, Mississippi and raised by her single mother. While serving time in a Texas high school, Tig failed three grades by entertaining classmates rather than entertaining the notion of a successful academic career. After dropping out of school, and a brief stint in the music industry while in Denver, she decided to lodge herself firmly into the always fun and always easy world of comedy. Most recently, Tig booked a supporting role in the feature THE RUNAWAYS opposite Kristen Stewart, which is out in theatres now. This will be her third season recurring as "Officer Tig" on THE SARAH SILVERMAN PROGRAM on Comedy Central and was a series regular on ABC'S IN THE MOTHERHOOD opposite Megan Mullally and Cheryl Hines. In previous years, she has had her own half-hour comedy special, COMEDY CENTRAL PRESENTS TIG and recurred on Comedy Central's critically acclaimed show DOG BITES MAN. She has also performed on ABC'S JIMMY KIMMEL LIVE, NBC's LAST CALL WITH CARSON DALY and performed on SHOWTIME's new comedy series LIVE NUDE COMEDY which aired on Showtime last summer. Tig performs regularly at the Hollywood Improv, The UCB Theater and at Largo in her monthly show, "Tig Notaro and Friends"...and of course, headlining clubs, colleges, theaters and living rooms across the universe.

    Please come back again someday

    by Suz on 6/6/23

We had the privilege of seeing Tig at The Comedy Attic in Bloomington IN (home of Indiana University). What an honor to share space with this warm and hilarious comic in such a small venue!!! We don't enjoy the large, impersonal venues for comedy, so when talent such as Tig finds a way/reason to make their way here, I'll say it again....it's nothing short of an honor and privilege. Truly. Such a special night and we can only hope that she comes back again someday.

I love TIG and have watched her specials on Netflix. But...

by Meme on 4/30/23Hackensack Meridian Health Theatre at the Count Basie Center - Red Bank

Altho' the first hour was great, she seemed to run out of material. I couldn't wait until she got up from the piano bench and thanked us for coming.

    Slow Second Half

    by G on 4/24/23Bardavon 1869 Opera House - Poughkeepsie

Having seen Tig perform before, was hoping for another great performance. Have to say I was disappointed. There were moments during the first half of the show where I was thoroughly entertained, but once she started her act on the piano, I found myself unenthusiastic and hoping she was going to end that segment and move on. Unfortunately, that's how she ended the show. She said she was getting ready for her next special and trying out material. Hope she doesn't include the piano part in her show unless she includes some other material that is entertaining.

by CrazieKris on 4/23/23Hackensack Meridian Health Theatre at the Count Basie Center - Red Bank

Tig did not disappoint! She was absolutely hysterical from her behind the scenes intro to her piano playing finale. I had tears streaming down my face and my stomach hurt from laughing so much.

    It was ok.

by LH on 2/11/23Punch Line Philly - Philadelphia

It was an ok show. I’m a Tig fan, but this wasn’t her best stand up material, IMO. Punchline philly was good as usual.

Tig is so down to earth

by Jen the Fan on 7/28/22Humphreys Concerts By the Bay - San Diego

Tig She’s so down to earth her humor just makes you feel like you have a commonality. Yet she has this dry way of saying the truthful ways we do things and think about things that you just laugh due to her delivery. She doesn’t even have to have a written show she can take something someone said from the audience and make a funny bit on it. She’s honest and has fun telling us how she sees herself and people she interacts with even her own life health issues helps us relate to her and she actually makes us laugh over something we might otherwise be sad about. What I love about her is She reaches all people through humor. It was so great to see her live because it brought me closer to her she’s not Just a tv personality or podcast person. She’s real and I felt connected to her.
