Swedish singer/songwriter Alice Boman has a voice and style as light and ethereal as a gentle breeze. But don't let the lightness fool you; there's heavy-hitting meaning behind every song she sings.

Boman gained global recognition with the viral hit single "Waiting," from her 2013 debut EP, Skisser ("sketches" in Swedish). "Waiting" has famously been used repeatedly on Amazon's streaming hit series "Transparent." Skisser started as a demo recorded alone in her apartment to send to Adrian Recordings in Malmö, Sweden. But the record company loved the album in its demo format and released the demo tracks. Skisser was remixed later that year, and Boman followed up with her second EP, aptly titled EP II, in 2014. She continued to release several singles, including "Dreams" (2017), "End of Time" (2017) and "Heartbeat" (2018), leading up to the 2020 release of her debut album Dream On, featuring the hit singles "Don't Forget About Me" and "This Is Where It Ends."

In 2022, she released her next album, The Space Between, an intimate tribute to joy and happiness with a smattering of additional instrumentation like accordion and softened brass not previously used. The single "Feels Like A Dream" features vocals by Perfume Genius (Mike Hadreas). The collaboration took place from afar --  Boman and Hadreas chatted on Instagram, and the recorded vocals were sent by email.

As seen on her most recent album, Boman's music is isolated from the constraints of the exterior world, which gives her music a timeless validity, covering only the distinctly human experiences of coming together, falling apart and healing. Swedish-born singer/songwriter Alice Boman was raised in the Malmö suburb of Limhamn.

She inherited her love of music from her father, who played guitar in cover bands while growing up. Her musical influences came from the music her dad played at home -- a lot of Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell and Townes Van Zandt, a particular favorite. She attended music school starting at 10, where choir was a big focus.

She briefly studied ceramics at a school on the island of Öland, where she wrote some of her earliest recordings.

In an interview with The Line of Best Fit, she said, "I like it when lyrics are quite direct. There's something about the simplicity of it that I really love. It makes it easier for people to attach their own meanings to a song, which is something I appreciate a lot when I listen to music. Songs that don't force the words too much."
