About

With their 40th anniversary at hand in 2013, legendary country band Alabama embarked on their first tour in more than a decade and released an officially endorsed tribute album titled "Alabama and Friends." The album features current country stars covering some of Alabama's country-rock classics -- including Kenny Chesney on "Lady Down on Love," Jason Aldean on "Tennessee River," Luke Bryan on "Love in the First Degree," and the Eli Young Band on "The Closer You Get" -- along with two new Alabama songs. It was a fitting tribute for the most successful band in country music history,  which logged 34 singles that topped Billboard's country singles chart between 1980 and 2011 and has sold more than 75 million albums. The band's core remains the same as when it was founded in 1969, when they were known as Wildcountry: Randy Owen (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), his cousin Teddy Gentry (bass), and another cousin, Jeff Cook (lead guitar, keyboards, fiddle). By 1973, the trio had decided to pursue music full time and they signed their first record deal -- and changed their name to The Alabama Band at the label's request -- in 1977.  By the '80s, the band had hit its stride, moving huge numbers of concert tickets and filling their trophy cases with multiple Grammy, CMA and ACM awards.

    Seating!

by Brenda on 12/6/23Propst Arena at the Von Braun Center - Huntsville

The music was great but the seats made us miserable 😖 We were on an upper level first row and the rail that was there was so close to the seat you couldn't move your legs, I am short and was miserable my husband 6'2"knees were under his chin. He kept having to bother the people next to us going in and out so we could relieve our legs. I probably won't attend anything else at the Propst Arena!!!!

    Awesome Energy and Music

by Kurilama on 12/6/23Propst Arena at the Von Braun Center - Huntsville

Truly amazing experience. Every aspect of the band was phenomenal. The sound was incredible. Randy and Teddy didn’t miss a beat and delightfully charmed the crowd. The keyboardist was amazing, spot on smooth with his improv. And the drummer and guitarist were equally amazing. Then there was the fiddle player. Meghan… Because you have to have a fiddle in the band. She stole the show. Blended perfectly with everyone. The whole show was pure perfection!!!

    Tired

by MikeW on 12/5/23Propst Arena at the Von Braun Center - Huntsville

Lee Greenwood was the star of the show and played for almost one hour. Alabama, on the other hand, seemed very tired. Perhaps because it was their last show of the tour. Might would have rated higher had I never seen them before. Not bad; just not great.

    Alabama, Lee, Elvis (crazy good)

    by Mary on 12/5/23

My 1st concert was Elvis in 1974 when I was only 7 years old. My 2nd concert was Alabama in 1982 in Murfreesboro, Tn. This concert was awesome! Lee Greenwood brought me to tears with his acknowledgement of the veterans and singing God Bless the USA. My husband had never seen Alabama in concert and he was blown away with the experience. This concert was outstanding, exceeded our expectations, and worth every penny! Thank you for being authentic and not adjusting your songs to today’s woke culture. Alabama gave it their all and then some even with the confession from Randy Owen that he had vertigo that morning. One could tell that he was battling through it, and I really respect and admire that he found the strength to perform. What a testament to him that he was able to still perform at a high level for 2 1/2 hours! Kudos to him, Teddy Gentry and the band. One of the best concerts and venues because it felt personable. I was blessed at the end of the concert to be given one of Randy Owen’s guitar picks. I turned to my husband and said that was as good or better than an Elvis scarf. Please continue playing as long as your health allows! Your songs are timeless and loads of fun. Come back to Huntsville soon.

One of the best bands ever. Worth every penny. Brought back great memories from the 1980s.

    Never a disappointment!

by PSmith on 12/5/23Propst Arena at the Von Braun Center - Huntsville

Alabama was, as always, fabulous. Owen and Gentry seem to have fun on stage even though is has been many years of performing. I have never been to a bad Alabama Concert! Can't wait for the next one!

    Awesome concert!

by KimP on 12/5/23Propst Arena at the Von Braun Center - Huntsville

Great seats! Great show! Not overly loud, but still a great concert experience. Lee Greenwood put on a great hour long show prior to Alabama taking the stage. He was energetic and entertaining. Alabama will always be classic entertainers! Enjoyed every single minute of it!!

Not as good as I’d hoped.

by Tidefan2022 on 12/4/23Propst Arena at the Von Braun Center - Huntsville

Age has caught up with Randy. He moves really slow and his voice wasn’t strong. Also, we had an obstructed view that we weren’t warned beforehand about. The guard rail was right at eye level and we couldn’t see. The band sounded great but at 73, Randy isn’t what he used to be.

    A Winderful Show

by Nat on 12/4/23Propst Arena at the Von Braun Center - Huntsville

Both Lee Greenwood and Alabama gave outstanding performances. I knew every song that Alabama played. Their voices were still strong, and they sounded just like their recordings! The fiddle player did a fantastic job! We really had a great night.

    Great concert

by Mjack on 12/4/23Propst Arena at the Von Braun Center - Huntsville

This was a great concert, with great seats in section 306. Close enough to the lower part of the section to see everything clearly but far enough away for the prices to be cheaper.
