Very fun experience, jokes are a little outdated

    by Lime on 4/8/24

Bought last minute tickets but im glad I went! Overall, the symphony and choir in my area did a great job with the soundtracks. I had an inkling that this would be the case, but a lot of the jokes and footage had classic 2010s humor (nothing offensive or anything) and the game choice also seemed a little outdated. If you’re an older millennial you’ll definitely have a great time. I’m gen Z and recognized and played all the games but I do wish there were more contemporary games (licensing is probably tricky). Also, the vocals during the Undertale section was an odd choice. I think the program could benefit from updated footage that isn’t 480p and maybe even a dedicated video editor to produce cool edits that go along with the soundtrack.

Been Into a lot of the shows

    by B. R. on 6/16/23

Video games live is such a great show. I went to the first show that they did at the Hollywood ball back in 2006 and it was pretty amazing. I’ve gone to a couple shows in LA that they did. I wish they would come back on tour to Los Angeles I met Tommy tallarico in 2011 and he was super deep down to earth and super nice and friendly to me. Such a kind hearted soul in 2012 I got the video game pianist Martin long to play dragon quest on piano due to because of square, Enix wouldn’t let the orchestra play the medley I got to it , which was fine I just wish video games live could come back to LA. I miss this show so much I still love video game music today and I never stopped listening to it. It was my childhood and it’s all thanks to video games live to bringing the soundtrack to life with a orchestra and choir if you’re a fan of video game music go to the show it’s amazing.

    Overall wonderful time

by Chloe on 10/8/19Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts - Raleigh

My husband and I went to this show as a date night and we had a blast! He’s a big gamer, me not so much, but I still saw and heard games I knew and a few that I personally love. The variety was awesome, everything from back in the day classics to today’s top selling games. The host was great, didn’t speak too much, but enough to keep the show rolling and to share a bit about himself and his passion for gaming music. He was very laid back, friendly and wanted to ensure the audience was having a good time. The symphony and choir were amazingly talented as well as the conductor. Lights were featured along with clips of game play to each piece of music played in perfect timing. I was happy to see and hear Mario and Skyrim (my favs) featured at this show and my husband was delighted to see all his favorites as well! We definitely want to go back and possibly bring our oldest son who is just beginning to discover a love for gaming.

    Great show but...

by V. M. on 10/8/19Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts - Raleigh

The show was fantastic, but the website promoted presos activities with doors opening and hour and a half early to enjoy them. There were no prestos activities. At least make this clear for each individual site so we don’t show up early for nothing.

    Engaging

by Buckeye on 10/8/19Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts - Raleigh

Something for everyone. Highlights from old favorites and newer videos represented on the big screen. The symphony was incredible (as always), supported by the Cary singers and Tommy on electric guitar. Together it made for a very engaging evening!

    Excellent show!

by MarriedToAGamer on 3/27/18Hard Rock Live Orlando - Orlando

My husband loves video games and this is one of his favorite tours. We have been to 3 Video Games Live over the years. The music is amazing, I dont know the games and just enjoy the music, the humor and the production. Its a great event for families and I love seeing young people so excited about what is basically a modern symphony. Totally recommend going if anyone you love is a gamer, this will be an awesome experience to share with them!

Video Games Live, Rated E for Everyone

by Finagler on 3/26/18Hard Rock Live Orlando - Orlando

Video Games Live is an extraordinarily energetic symphony performance that should hold some appeal for anyone who appreciates good music. Show organizer / presenter / performer Tommy Tallarico amps up the crowd and expresses his love for the medium, presenting a good case for video game music’s cultural relevance. Hard Rock Live was a fine venue, and VGL presented local musicians, which made it just a little bit cooler. All around worthwhile and recommended.
