About

The Gilmour Project Live in Concert

In lieu of Pink Floyd is the recently launched Gilmour Project, a psych-jam group named for the one and only David Gilmour. Together, the prog/jazz/jam/psychedelic supergroup reimagines classic cuts and deep-catalog material from the beloved '70s act.

Conceptualized in 2020 and comprising guitarist Jeff Pevar, keyboardist Scott Guberman, bassist Kasim Sulton, drummer Prairie Prince, and guitarist Mark Karan, the Gilmour Project is much more than your average tribute band.

Pevar has spent time playing with Crosby, Stills & Nash; David Crosby; Phil Lesh; and Ray Charles. Meanwhile, Sulton has contributed bass and vocals to Todd Rundgren's Utopia, Meatloaf, Blue Öyster Cult, Hall & Oates, Cheap Trick, and Patti Smith. Prince is co-founder of the Tubes and has played drums with Todd Rundgren, Jefferson Starship and Phil Lesh. Karan has contributed guitar and vocals to Bob Weir, RatDog and The Other Ones, and rounding out the band's considerable pedigree is keyboardist and vocalist Guberman, who has played with Phil Lesh.

Though the Gilmour Project was initially forced to press pause due to the COVID-19 pandemic, they officially launched in mid-2021 with a livestream performance from San Francisco's Great American Music Hall. Later in the year, they organized a Thanksgiving-themed performance, "A Dark Slice (of The Moon)," where they reimagined Pink Floyd's 1973 classic album, plus additional material from Floyd's famed 1972 tour, "The Dark Side of The Moon: A Piece For Assorted Lunatics."

In 2022, the Gilmour Project organized their debut tour celebrating the 50th anniversary of David Gilmour and Pink Floyd's Dark Side Of The Moon, where they performed the album in its entirety, plus rarities from Gilmour's solo catalog.

    I was pleasantly surprised

Although I felt slightly cheated that David Gilmore wasn't in the group, but I still liked the show...

    Good not great

by Silver on 5/23/23MGM Northfield Park - Center Stage - Northfield

We attended this concert last year and loved it so much we wanted to experience it again THIS year! But it wasn't as good, vocals were weak, and band members just didn't seem to be into it the same. We won't be going next year.

    Lead singer was great!

by Pish on 5/17/23MGM Northfield Park - Center Stage - Northfield

Location was not great. Seating was so tight and seats were locked in. Big person next to me made it unbearably tight. Men maning the isles did not allow change of seats. All seats were at same same level making it difficult to see beyond the heads in front of me and the crazy lady that felt the need to keep standing and swaying.

    Gilmore "Demolition" Project

    by H. D. on 5/17/23MGM Northfield Park - Center Stage - Northfield

The sound mixing was terrible, the voices were ok but nowhere near what a Floyd fan would expect. Best song they did was Black Magic Woman. My take away was that this was nothing more than a jam session that I could experience at a local bar for a tenth of the price.. My wife and I left at intermission.

    Great Show

We really enjoyed the show. Pink Floyd is my all time favorite band. It was really great to listen to live music of theirs. They did a really nice job ! I do, however wish they would have played something from the Meddle album, like Fearless or Echos.

    6 out of 10

by Jim on 5/17/23MGM Northfield Park - Center Stage - Northfield

Some of their music was very good but then they would mix two songs together in some sort of drug induced bizarre way that really didn’t work. Stick with one song at a time guys.

    Fantastic Floyd

by Linda Lou on 5/17/23MGM Northfield Park - Center Stage - Northfield

This group was probably the best Floyd cover band around. The musicians were super skilled and you could tell they love Pink Floyd. 2 hours plus of music.

    Off The Charts

    by R. G. on 5/17/23MGM Northfield Park - Center Stage - Northfield

Brought back all the good things about David Gilmour’s work. No high tech productions. No flying pigs. No building walls. Just what the music was meant to sound like with wonderful excursions to places the music was meant to go. BRAVO

    Amazing Show

by LiveforMusic on 5/15/23The Showroom at Turning Stone Resort Casino - Verona

Amazing performance from beginning to end. Each musician had their time to shine with such great talent. I loved how they threw shakedown into another brick in the wall!
