Still an Iowa Girl at Heart

by AndeeR on 6/28/16Orpheum Theatre - Minneapolis

Much to my surprise, I really enjoyed The Bridges of Madison County. The cast was outstanding and really brought the story to life. I was sure it was going to show stereotypical Iowans but they moved beyond that. I would recommend!!

    Superb!

by Turkeylip on 6/28/16Orpheum Theatre - Minneapolis

This was the best performance I have seen. The main characters were great together! Cannot say enough about this performance. Loved the way set changes were performed. Was such smooth transitions and did not take away from the actors

This was a well executed show with good music and great performers even though our show had the understudies for the lead roles.

The characters/actors all had incredible voices and it was memorizing to listen to their voices.

One of the best shows I've ever seen, and I've seen many. I loved the set design and the transitions between scenes. They also did a great job of mixing humor into this emotional show. I normally don't like those two mixed together, but they separated it enough that it worked out well. Singing was amazing as well. I didn't have trouble understanding what was going on, despite not knowing the story ahead of time.

    Covered the Spectrum of Emotions

by Lesawho on 2/24/16ASU Gammage - Tempe

I took my mom to see this for her Christmas present.Santa must have thought she was a very good girl because it was great! We laughed, we cried, and we got a little offended. Affairs are never okay in my book, but I she live stories about them. Really good acting and music too.

    hard to hear

by hearingaidesneeded on 2/24/16ASU Gammage - Tempe

While the actor who played Kincade was perfectly easy to hear and understand, the actress who played Francesca sang in a more operatic voice that made it possible to understand only about 1/2 of what she was saying. If she was able to 'talk sing" like the other actors, it would have been more pleasurable. They did a great job of bringing emotion to the stage, and it was very well done.

    Great Cast Equals Enjoyable Evening

by ASadFan on 2/24/16ASU Gammage - Tempe

This musical rendering of the "Bridges of Madison County" was outstanding. The cast did a great job, the story was quick moving. As I sat there before it began I wondered how I would enjoy the musical knowing the story and thinking of the movie with it's original cast. There was no problem as the two leads more than carried the show. My wife and I would highly recommend this touring company and the Bridges of Madison County.

Beautiful, moving and shouldn't be missed!

by Anonymous on 2/23/16ASU Gammage - Tempe

I have been a fan of the soundtrack for "The Bridges of Madison County" ever since it won the Tony. It is crazy to me that this show wasn't more successful on Broadway. From the opening cello to the closing quiet chords, the whole production was so wonderfully crafted. I was a little worried about the pacing because it is a relatively "slow" story, but the moments between Robert and Francesca are broken up by focusing on Francesca's husband and 2 kids while they are at the fair. It added so much to focus on this side of the story because then when Francesca has to make her choice, you are truly torn on what she should do. The scenes after Francesca's choice are truly stunning. There is a montage of what happens after she makes her decision which is accompanied by a gospel number sung by her husband Bud. It was very moving. The only issue I had was the Gammage theater itself. I was up in the first balcony and it was very difficult to hear. Also, the actress who played Francesca had a really thick Italian accent so it took a few scenes to get used to it, but by the 2nd act I didn't have any problems.

    Bridges was good.

    by Goose2003 on 2/23/16ASU Gammage - Tempe

I thought the actors were great, but the play and story line, was just alright for me. I prefer the MOVIE so much more and I've heard the book is even better than either the play or the movie. I would not go see it again, but I am glad I tried it once.
