STEELY DAN IN CONCERT:

Steely Dan is responsible for some of the most complex, finely crafted classic rock of the 20th century, and they continue to deliver on tour more than 40 years after their debut. Core members Walter Becker and Donald Fagen are legendary for their musicianship, and they only surround themselves with the finest players, making for studio-perfect live renditions of their virtuosic compositions. Whether fans are out to wax nostalgic with "Rikki Don't Lose That Number" or sway in the breeze of "Hey Nineteen," Steely Dan never fails to deliver amaze, with another hit-filled tour planed for summer 2014.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Walter Becker and Donald Fagen met in the late '60s at Bard College in Upstate New York, writing songs together for several years before officially forming Steely Dan and releasing their first single "Dallas" in 1972. While the single sold poorly, their debut album Can't Buy a Thrill was released later that year to considerable critical and commercial success, landing the band their first hits with "Do It Again" and "Reelin' in the Years." They continued to climb the charts throughout the decade, reaching their peak position in 1977 with Aja, a No. 3 hit widely regarded as a seminal album of the classic rock era. Amid rumors of a return to the studio, the band will hit the road in 2014 for an extensive summer tour.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"Steely Dan has been around so long they can play an entire concert of familiar songs and not run out. I personally like a band that can recreate the studio sound on stage well. SD does this better than anyone else."

” I cannot think of a time that I was ever disappointed by a Steely Dan show, and this concert was no different. From the minute they took the stage right on up until they left it (almost two hours later) we were presented with excellent music performed to perfection with some stories thrown in for good measure."

"Always a MUST SEE when Steely Dan comes to town! Each song was performed superbly by top-notch musicians. Every member of the band was featured. It was hit after hit, classic after classic."

    Missed again

    by No show! on 3/20/24

I bought tickets the year before to see them and Snarky Puppy ( wasn’t happy about that either..was supposed to be Stevie Winwood) in Michigan at Pine Knob. Paid a fortune for excellent seats in front. Then my partner caught Covid when he traveled abroad and missed completely as I couldn’t find anyone to go last minute. Then I got wind that they were coming back with the Eagles at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit…Now I like the Eagles, don’t get me wrong but I definitely wanted to go to see Steely Dan mainly. So again I buy some of the very best seats I can find then I get there and it’s announced that Steely Dan band members are under the weather and Steve Miller opened for them instead!! Steve Miller was excellent as usual but I’ve seen him many many times back in the day…so I’m now taking it that the universe does not want me to see Steely Dan for some reason..not to mention they are still on this long tour with Eagles in Europe now and don’t know if they will ever tour again as we all are not getting any younger….so I spent thousands and still no Steely Dan…😓😓😓😓

    Monster Musicians

    by Willie on 2/18/24

OMG, Saw STEELY DAN with the EAGLES in New Orleans last night. They did not disappoint! For almost 4 hours, there were no songs we didn’t know all lyrics too. I was absolutely amazed at Fagan’s voice and the fact they could recreate the songs live with absolute precision. The back up vocalist were spot on and their movements added so much energy and class to the show. Every player was in a master class of their instrument(s). 14 members on stage and never sounded busy or hit a late or bad note. Their jazzy pieces (all of them) were a perfect touch to add to our trip to the Crescent City. One last thing. The damn drum player is a beast and will blow your mind. The whole show was awesome and worth every penny. Go see both Eagles and Steely Dan on tour if possible. It sadly feels like the end of the most awesome era of music ever composed. The show IS the musicianship of these aging giants in both bands. They were all mostly in later 70’s and still going strong! My thanks to many years of dancing to your music Mr. Fagan. XOXOXO

Very disappointed that Steely Dan is not opening up for the Eagles at the Ball Arena tonight (October 5,2023 in Denver! Lot of planning and money spent to see him as I’ve never missed a concert! Hoping Donald Fagen gets well and may see him in Inglewood,California in January! Sheryl Crow is opening instead! No doubt the Eagles will shine tonight with Joe Walsh!!

    Steely Dan Bridgeport, CT

by JULIA on 8/25/22Hartford HealthCare Amphitheater - Bridgeport

Great show. A must see. Had the bad seats by venue standard but venue has NO really bad seats, so it was fine. Glad the large display screens were there but the video person was expertly always showing the wrong player.

Fantastic of course, it's Steely Dan

by Black Mamba on 8/22/22The Capitol Theatre - Port Chester

Steely Dan's music is legendary for impeccable production on their records, and the quality of the sound in their concerts is equally well done. Excellent music, musicians and production. They are the best.

    Excellent!

by Steve Miz on 8/19/22The Capitol Theatre - Port Chester

The Capitol Theater is a great concert venue. I've been going there since high school back in the 70's. Many great shows and memories, indeed. I know it closed for a while back in the 90's? But it's good to see it thriving again. And Steely Dan was, of course, amazing, as always. Thank you for keeping great live music alive!!

    Disappointed

by Felix the Cat on 8/17/22The Capitol Theatre - Port Chester

I was at the Saturday performance and was very disappointed when the show ended after Steely Dan played for only 100 minutes. They also did not play a number of hit songs that I came to hear. As we were leaving the theater, I overheard many other concert goers with the same complaint. Very disappointed in Mr. Fagan. ..
