About

A major punk band for over two decades, Social Distortion came out of Los Angeles's active hardcore scene of the late '70s and early '80s. Their first album, Mommy's Little Monster, appeared in 1983 and featured the song "Another State of Mind," which aired as one of a few punk videos on mid-'80s MTV. Since then, Social Distortion have further developed their mix of punk and rockabilly with such songs as "Ball and Chain," "Bad Luck" and "Reach for the Sky." To this day, Social Distortion remain one of punk's most exciting and vital bands. Over the course of their career, Social Distortion have brought many venues to capacity, like Observatory North Park and the Mission Ballroom.

    Cancelled

by Bummed on 4/24/24Moody Amphitheater - Austin

The music was great while it lasted, 5 songs and the show was over. It was raining and most of the people were dressed for rain knowing the forecast. After the band played the fifth song they told everyone to leave because of lightning in the area. Not sure where the lightning was, but we didn't ever see it. The venue was packed. Someone made a lot of money.

    Great bands. terrible venue

by Ray on 4/23/24Moody Amphitheater - Austin

Severe weather was forecasted for days. It didn’t let up the day of. All the signs were there to reschedule the show. Opening band got a full set. Bad Religion got a much shorter set. Social D only got 4 songs before the venue shut it down due to lightning that everyone knew was coming. No word from the venue since. Seems like they got the bare minimum amount of music in so they didn’t have to give refunds.

    You Said Rain or Shine

by WhoDat Austin on 4/23/24Moody Amphitheater - Austin

The venue was great and the bands we were able to see were great. However, the ticket said rain or shine but then called off the show when it started raining. Uncool.

No to Moody Amphitheater, yes to the bands

    by Austin on 4/23/24

First and last time at this Venue. They basically stole everyone’s money after ensuring the final band fulfilled the contractual obligation and then evacuated.

    Social Storm

by Marco Snidero on 4/23/24Moody Amphitheater - Austin

Social Distortion started a great show, but after four songs it was interrupted because a storm was coming, a storm that the forecast announced more than a week before, with plenty of time for moving the show to an indoor location or cancelling it, being the main reason for my Austin trip this is bad, being that my trip was a trip for two from Italy and quite expensive that really makes me disappointed, hopefullly a refound from the organizers will come but the bitterness will stay… can’t complain about the bands at all, social distortion 4 songs were good and they looked pissed about quitting and made some instagram posts about this and bad religion did a great show, but the organizers should give money back to the people or make another show for the ones that can attend

Was really disappointed that Moody didn't cancel and offer to give at least a portion of our money back after they new thunderstorms were in the forecast and went ahead anyhow.

    Partial Refund

by P. Martin on 4/23/24Moody Amphitheater - Austin

The show was great up until it was cut short due to weather. I think customers are owed a partial refund when a concert they spent so much time, energy and money on is short changed.

    Sad it was so short

    by M3loveah on 4/23/24Moody Amphitheater - Austin

Bad Religion shortened their set to 45 minutes. Social d sang 4 songs. Value for the money wasn’t there.

    Social D and lightning

by TK on 4/23/24Moody Amphitheater - Austin

They were only allowed to play 5 songs because of inclement weather We all paid a lot of money and I’m super disappointed that we were forced to evacuate. Ed should get a full show.

    Disappointed

by Laura H on 4/23/24Moody Amphitheater - Austin

This review isn't for the bands. It wasn't their fault. Social D is my all-time favorite band and my sons as well. The venue didn't handle the inclement weather well and should have canceled the event. The post 'rain or shine'. However, there was bad weather ALL day and they should have done better by all of us. They evacuated the venue 3rd song in. Not cool. Social D needs to be paid and we all deserve a refund for YOUR bad choices.
