We were at Tony Quinn Stadium last night from 3 pm until the game was over. We sat in the 2nd row right behind home plate. At about 7 pm some people showed up to sit in our row claiming that we were in their "assigned" seats. According to this website (which I confirmed with the ushers at the game) there are no assigned seats during baseball games. Rather than cause a scene we got up and decided to let the ushers handle the matter. However, the ushers were unable to force the newcomers to move. Instead they asked that we sit somewhere else. When I was hesitant to do so, they asked a different nice couple (who had also been there for hours and hours) to move which they did and we were able to reclaim our seats. However, the" late arrivers" were able to stay in the remainder of the 2nd row behind home plate after having arrived late. Either there are assigned seats, or there aren't! I asked the security guy to step in but he wouldn't do it. He said it was up to the ushers to enforce the rule and all the ushers were very nice young college girls not willing to make a scene with the interlopers. And they not only came late to the game, but they left early in an extra inning game! Phooey on you!
