About

RBRM on Tour

The year was 1984, the song was "Cool It Now," and the money line went, "Ronnie, Bobby, Ricky and Mike/ If I like the girl who cares who you like!" Thanks to New Edition's massive hit that summer, every pop music listener knew the names of four of the R&B group's five members.

Now the same famous foursome — Ronnie DeVoe, Bobby Brown, Ricky Bell, and Michael Bivins — come together as RBRM for their latest cross-country tour of the United States. The fellas first reunited as RBRM in 2018, an unprecedented configuration in the 30-plus years the Boston natives have performed together.

Spring of 2019 marks their return to the road, the four featured vocalists backed by two drummers, bass, keyboards, guitar, and a DJ, along with group choreography, backup dancers, and a killer light show. They play all the hits from all their various projects — New Edition, plus copious solo material, and even a few surprising covers. From coast to coast, from start to finish, fans from multiple generations find themselves singing along to these indelible songs and celebrating their timeless appeal.

RBRM Background

With the combined brilliance of the aforementioned members, plus fifth vocalist Ralph Tresvant, New Edition burst out of Boston's teenage talent-show scene in the early 1980s under the tutelage of producer Maurice Starr. Their first album gained them national attention, and their second, eponymous album — which featured "Cool It Now" and "Mr. Telephone Man" — made them superstars.

They were perhaps the original boy band, featuring equal parts singing and dancing, the template on which Starr would model New Kids on the Block just a few years later. Brown was voted out of the group in 1985 and, with his 1988 solo debut Don't Be Cruel, embarked on a hugely successful solo career capped by smash hits like "Don't Be Cruel," "My Prerogative," and "Every Little Step."

Meanwhile Bell, Bivins, and DeVoe left the New Edition name behind and teamed up with super-producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis as Bell Biv DeVoe to release the multi-platinum album Poison in 1990. Their various solo projects brought even more success than New Edition, putting the band members among pop music's elite.

The years since have seen various New Edition reunions that have included Tresvant and latter-day member Johnny Gill. Their 1996 album Home Again was the only one to include all six. In 2017, BET aired The New Edition Story, a three-part biopic that renewed the group's fame and acclaim. It's all there in RBRM — and coming to a town near you.

    The show was fantastic

    by divat4life on 11/30/19

I stayed on my feet the whole time they performed. They still have so much energy and the crowd responds with energy too. One of the best concerts I've ever gone to! They still have it!

    Fun and Fantastic

by Fan2Fan on 7/20/19The Venue at Horseshoe Casino - Hammond

This concert was so much fun. RBRM sang many of their favorites from the past as Bobby Brown (solo artist and BBD. It was like taking a trip down memory lane. I loved their energy and enthusiasm on stage, and they sounded pretty good. Overall, I would go see them in concert again. However, I would love to see New Edition (including Ralph and Johnny) go on tour again.

    LIT

by Wally on 6/25/19The Met Philadelphia - Philadelphia

I saw BBD earlier this year and they KILLED it, so I already knew what to expect. They were great again, but this was my first time seeing Bobby Brown in concert. He is the same Bobby he's always been, he does what he wants and is a wildcard missing dance steps here and there from talking to the audience lol. But he was really good, and there was a touching moment toward the end of the show where he broke down crying talking about his late daughter Bobbi Kristina. In the beginning he wasn't hitting his signature high notes but he seemed to get better as the show went on, and after the emotional moment he was EXCELLENT! I really only check for Jay-Z & Beyonce concerts but after 2 shows i'll be adding BBD, Bobby and prayerfully New Edition to that list. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

    Lacked the enthusiasm and fun

by Lisalv05 on 6/19/19The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel Las Vegas - Las Vegas

The show was short even though the 4 of the have a very large catalog. Bobby stood mostly to the side the whole except for when he sang. It almost seemed like BBD carried the show. They looked tired and had the audience sing a lot of the words to their hits. It was a disappointing show being when they’re with New Edition it’s Fun and entertaining with lots of interactions with the audience.

The RBRM show was great! The only thing is - wish all of New Edition - the six of them would have been on stage like at BET Awards couple years ago. Overall, it was a Blast!

    Fun and entertaining!

    by L. M. on 6/19/19Paramount Theatre-Oakland - Oakland

Loved the venue! The guys had good energy, played all the hits, and were really fun to watch...so happy we went as I was a huge fan back in the day. The only downside was they were hard to hear...almost muffled sounding. But had a blast overall...I want ALL New Edition next time!
