Entertaining, but don't spend your rent money

by TallOne on 3/22/24CIBC Theatre - Chicago

The lead singer's voice lacked in comparison to the second singer-the hooker. The costumes, dancing and stage set were very good but the lead did not pull it off.

I'm not a fan of theatre but this was great fun

by Call me Maybe on 3/20/24CIBC Theatre - Chicago

Was in Chicago for St Patrick's Day. Went to CIBC Pretty Woman purely because it was a "must do"tourism thing to see a broadway show in Chicago. Alternatives in my available timeslot included such upbeat options as, "Diary of Anne Frank."I'm glad I went. The architecture inside the theatre is breathtaking. The view was exactly what I expected for the ticket price. The seats were a little squishy. A very well run theatre, from front of house keeping lines moving and safe, to a pleasant bar experience with good wine, presumably at every main aisle/floor. The production was fantastic! Very talented cast, clearly having fun with their roles. Great tunes/dialogue/refrains that didn't feel forced. Excellent repartee/script between the main characters. Good occasional slapstick without being ham-fisted. Lots of background movement if you got bored. Scenes kept short and polished. Reminded me of great stand-up: if one gag didn't land, there was another around the corner. Gay characters a bit one-dimensional and played up, Tim Curry style, for campness. Eye-catching "risque"costumes (on some absolute smoke-show women; I'm told the men were good too). Several of the cast produced total belters of a sustained final note, without degenerating into indulgent jazz. Choreography was modern and varied, without being too inspired by Fortnite/TikTok. Thoroughly enjoyable. I sincerely hope the cast and crew get the credit they deserve for this great show.

    Great show!

It was way better than I expected. The people in the show were all incredible. The story was great. The singing was great. I would definitely recommend it even though I got dragged to it by my wife. Lol.

    Great show

by Broadway Baby on 3/19/24CIBC Theatre - Chicago

Great show. Awesome choreography. Songs were really enjoyable, but the melodies aren't easy to recall. Horrible rowdy tipsy audience though. Probably due to St Patrick's Day.

    Fun

by sarah on 3/19/24CIBC Theatre - Chicago

I love anything broadway, and especially musicals. This was no exception! The seating/layout at this theatre though isn’t as good as the Nederlander Theatre but we had a great time nonetheless.

    Loved the humor and singing!

by Gigi on 3/19/24CIBC Theatre - Chicago

We went with another couple and all four of us enjoyed the show! I had forgotten about all of the humor in Pretty Woman! The songs were catchy and the singers were talented! The actor who played Edward was amazing - acting, singing, dancing, and piano playing! The actress who was Kit had a beautiful powerful voice! Loved the bell hop! And the woman who sang opera was talented!
