Orlando City SC at Exploria Stadium

As the MLS grew in 2010, Orlando was granted one of the league's expansion teams. The city set about building a brand-new soccer-specific stadium for the incoming team, Orlando City SC, which began play in 2015. Settle in for a night of rowdy soccer action, and cheer along with the Ruckus Orlando, the club's supporter section.

Orlando City SC History

Upon coming into the league in time for the 2015 season, Orlando City knew it needed to make a big splash, and it went out and did just that. Coming over for the inaugural season from AC Milan, Kaka was the first big signing of the Orlando era. The former Ballon d'Or winner was in the waning years of his career, but his talent and name recognition helped Orlando make its first season one to remember for its new fans.

As it turned out, Kaka wasn't really the star of the team's first year. That honor went to Canadian rookie Cyle Larin, who scored 17 goals in his debut campaign, a new record for MLS rookies. Larin won Rookie of the Year honors for the campaign, which saw Orlando barely miss the playoffs by just one point in the stacked Eastern Conference.

Making the playoffs for the first time in 2020, Orlando City SC has built a strong fan base in the Florida city, one that shows up each and every game for its Lions. Taking over in 2019 as head coach, Oscar Pareja continues to look to make team history and reserve a spot for itself in the MLS Cup Playoffs and possibly make a deep run for the title.

    Ridiculous and unsafe

    by Bootsie on 8/30/23

Unfortunately we never got in to see the game which we were all disappointed about. The rules on the size of the bags you can take In is crazy, if you do go to a game here then I would suggest taking the bare minimal. Also and as tourist we didn't feel safe in the area we were in. Lots of homeless people in the area, run down buildings and signs that at night it's not a safe place to be. Having young kids with us we didn't fancy walking through all of that. Even speaking to people in the queue they were disappointed with local area and the fact that nothing has been done to help the people on the streets. Considering the stadium looks immaculate from what we saw the surrounding area was the complete opposite.

great game, very disappointing gate experience

    by Lino on 8/29/23

I loved the Orlando City FC game and the fans and atmosphere. MLS is becoming really fun and games are getting more and more full. However, I waited in line about 30-45 minutes only to be told I needed to go to a different gate. My ticket said gates A/B/C/D for entry. After making the second trip and waiting in line again, I was told again to go to a different gate (this time I was at gate C). Finally, upon entry I was told I didn't need a wristband for a specific section even though all the other individuals I went with had one and they all bought the exact same ticket as me. I think there needs to be much better coordination and review of necessary gate entry.

    Finally!

    by Old Newbie on 8/29/23

My family and I attended our first match at Exploria stadium last Saturday night. We had a fantastic experience and enjoyed an Orlando win over St. Louis. The team and the fans are exciting which created a very enjoyable atmosphere. We can't wait to come back!

Good experience but UK Prem is better

    by Gaby on 8/29/23

Firstly, the bag policy on the website doesn’t reflect what the security tell you. So one of us had to go into the stadium to get a clear plastic shopping bag to then put the small bag that suddenly wasn’t allowed in. Ridiculous. The actual stadium was good, wasn’t allowed free tap water from one of the stands. But there are water fountains around. Good expensive but the hotdogs tasted good.

    Alright for the mls

    by Frazer on 7/30/23

The stadium was good, easy to get to and to find your seats but the game itself was very poor quality players diving over nothing and the refs stopping play every time this happened making the game less enjoyable but the fans were nice so were the staff

    Missed event

    by Ceejay on 7/7/23

When booking in the UK the event was down for the 5th as such also booked a non refundable hotel for the night. Was disappointed I could not get a printable or physical ticket which would alert me to a problem. Downloaded the app but as it was the UK version ticket did not show up. Missed the emails as I didn't have free WiFi. Woke up to find the game had been played on the 4th. Lost out on the pre purchased match ticket, hotel cost as no point of checking in and the games here and in Atlanta where the main reason for my flight from the UK as a birthday treat. The date could maybe be explained due to the time difference? Maybe I could have done something else but still feel aggrieved not to have had a print at home ticket like I have previously had options for. If it was in front of me in black and white all this heartache and lost money would have been avoided
