I've been going to this ballet yearly for thebpast few years, and this is the only time I've experienced anything worth complaining about.
So, the orchestra was perfect, the dance itself was lovely as usual, the set was gorgeous. The only thing that bothered me was that, during the Dance of the Snowflakes, there was a giant cross in the sky in the background. I don't remember that ever being a feature of the ballet before.
As a non-Christian, I always particularly enjoyed the ballet because it feels festive and seasonal, but without the constant bombardment of religious imagery. It's always felt welcoming to me. The addition of this unnecessary bit of religious imagery (I mean, what about snowflakes has anything to do with religion?), it just...kind of soured the experience for me, and broke the immersive magic of the sounds and sights.
It's not the hugest deal, and I'll probably go again, but it did feel unnecessary and alienating.
