OH WONDER IN CONCERT:
London-based indie pop duo Oh Wonder made their debut in 2014 with an ambitious promise: post one song a month to their Soundcloud account. One year later they collected the songs for their self-titled first album, which cracked the Top 40 hit on the UK Albums Chart that also made waves in the US. At their first shows in support of the release the pair proved themselves stellar performers, bringing lush, romantic synthpop-influenced gems like “Drive” and “Technicolor Beat” to life with their signature guy-girl vocals and live keys, guitar, and drums. Their powerful performances and growing reputation has their concerts selling out left and right, and fans won’t want to sleep on the chance to catch these rising pop auteurs on tour.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Oh Wonder, aka Josephine Vander Gucht and Anthony West, formed in Southeast London in 2014. They posted their debut track “Livewire” on Soundcloud that same year and pushed themselves by following up each month with a new song. The tracks quickly topped the Hype Machine charts and racked up millions of views on Soundcloud, and in 2015 Oh Wonder collected the songs along with additional singles “Without You” and “Plans” for the self-titled 2015 debut album. The record was popular with critics and landed on charts across Europe, including a No. 26 showing on the UK Albums Chart. Since then they’ve impressed on their first headlining tour, selling out venues around the world and wowing fans with confident and mesmerizing performances that belie their recent arrival to the scene.
The show was fantastic! I know that some songs can be slower but they were able to still make it all enjoyable. Josephine gave a great amount of energy that made you want to jump up and down with her as well. I would go and see them again if they came back to the states.
Super show. Josie and Anthony are great (together (at last)...lol). Great mix of the new and old! Great, non-stop energy! Sound at The Fox Oakland shakes you...Very groovy show from first to last!
Great venue, super friendly hospitality— OH WONDER live is amazing!! So much talent. Love the spaciousness and ambiance of the venue.
They put on a mind-blowing performance. It was even better than I had expected. I can't wait to see them live again. I can die happy now ❤️.
Oh Wonder were so much fun. Full of energy and their songs are fantastic. They came across as genuine people having fun and just inviting you to their party. The whole experience was great. The house of blues are s an awesome venue. Just big enough to feel like a real gig but not to big that makes you feel removed from the action. Nowhere is too far away from the stage. Loved the whole thing.
The venue is quite small however that makes it great for wherever you sit you get a great view of the stage, the music was awesome and the bands that played have such an awesome performance!
They all looked genuinely so excited to be performing and their energy seeped into everyone else. They’re the type of performers where you dont need to know ANY of their songs to love them.
The day before the concert, I was asked to attend the concert and did my research to know what I'm getting myself into since I was unfamiliar with the band and loved what I listened to. At the concert, I was really grooving to the music and enjoyed every bit of it. The music was soooo amazing and loved the alt-pop dynamic. I Will come again if they perform later on.
First time seeing them perform and omg was the BEST performance I’ve ever seen. Really Enjoyed their energy and presence and even subtle crowd control cause some folks were drunk and belligerent, but they stayed calmed and kept the energy UP!
