Las Vegas Raiders History

The Las Vegas Raiders began play in the American Football League in Oakland in 1960. In 1963, they hired head coach and general manager Al Davis, who engineered the greatest one-year turnaround in pro football history, leading the Raiders to a 10-4 record after they posted a 1-13 mark the year before.

From 1967 to 1977 the Raiders appeared in three consecutive AFL title games and six AFC championship games. They won their first national championship title at Super Bowl XI in 1977, beating Minnesota 32-14. In 1980, they became the first Wild Card playoff team to win a Super Bowl, beating Philadelphia 27-10 in Super Bowl XV.

The Raiders moved to Los Angeles in 1982 and the following year won their third national championship title, defeating Washington 38-9 in Super Bowl XVIII. After returning to Oakland in 1995, the Raiders won three straight AFC West titles from 2000 to 2002 and earned a berth in Super Bowl XXXVII. As the only franchise to play in the Super Bowl in the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s, the Raiders are known as the “Team of the Decades.” The Raiders relocated to Las Vegas in 2020 and made a playoff appearance in 2021.

The Raiders have 30 members of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, including owner Al Davis.

Since opening in July 2020, the stadium has hosted special sporting events such as the Pac-12 Championship Game in 2021 and the NFL's 2022 Pro Bowl. Allegiant-Amazing, Raiders, well, whatcha gonna do?

by Raider Girl on 1/10/23Allegiant Stadium - Las Vegas

This was our second game in two years at Allegiant stadium. It is fantastic. Well thought out, all staff is friendly, kind and helpful. There is food available for reduced prices if you know where to look. Coming home today was talking with a KC Fan who raved about how wonderful everyone was at the stadium. Not just the staff, but the fans (Raider) around them. I think that speaks volumes.

    Security/Ownership

    by AkronChino on 1/8/23

If only I could give a ZERO star rating instead of ONE STAR. Terrible experience. I’ve been to Allegiant Stadium twice this year for two Raiders game. Both times they asked me to put my sign away or else they will have to escort me out. The sign read “Bring back DC in Sin City” I’m not sure why we (fans) can’t express ourselves. I also don’t like that this isn’t a Raiders home field advantage as opposing teams fan fill it up on a weekly basis. I also didn’t like the fact that I lite up a joint during the Too Short and Ice Cube halftime show during the New Years Day game and security (again) approached me and told me to put it out or else I would be escorted out again. It’s a concert/football game what else do you expect Vegas? Never going back. I’ll rather be at Sofi and Levi’s

Amazing stadium even from a Niner fan

    by C. K. on 1/4/23Allegiant Stadium - Las Vegas

The game was an amazing duel between two teams that haven’t seen each other in years but the rivalry still was as strong as ever. The stadium was packed with fans from both sides but, even with all the trash talking, everyone was friendly and having fun. Best game I’ve ever been to and will probably ever be to.

    Go Raiders

by JM on 12/22/22Allegiant Stadium - Las Vegas

It was an unbelievable game. The last play was one for the record books. This was our first time attending a Raiders game so we ended up there over an hour before the game started. It was about a 15 minute walk from Mandalay Bay and a quick entry into the stadium at that time. Plenty of check points to walk through and not very crowded. The stadium is really nice. The temperature was perfect for short sleeves and we found our seats pretty easily with our section number being a little tricky to find. We would love to go again.

    Amazing venue

by War dog on 12/7/22Allegiant Stadium - Las Vegas

One of the nicest stadiums I’ve ever seen inside and out. It reminds me of Jurassic Park where money was no object. I can’t wait to experience the place again & to catch another raider game. Go Raider Nation

    Amazing experience

    by S. G. on 10/6/22Allegiant Stadium - Las Vegas

What a show - yes a show, fantastic experience of watching the game plus all the extra things that the game day experience give. Well worth going to see a game at the Raiders stadium as you won't be disappointed.

    Meh, sub par at best.

by Cmack on 10/5/22Allegiant Stadium - Las Vegas

Seats were good and the venue was nice. HOWEVER, I would never spend this kind of my again on a raiders game… leaving the stadium was a NIGHTMARE, 62,000 people all leaving the game pushed in the same direction to the strip was so frustrating. The atmosphere was bland as well, more visiting teams fans there. No replays on the big screen and the entertainment between quarters and plays was non existent. Disappointed over all. You would be better off finishing a nice pub and a good TV somewhere on the strip.

    Awesome experience

by Malcolm on 9/21/22Allegiant Stadium - Las Vegas

This has to be the ultimate stadium, even up in the 4th tier the view was fantastic, easy to follow and enjoy the play. Only downsides were the queues for food / drink and restrooms at half time and theiud obnoxious cardinals fan behind me

    Could have been better

by Miss Tee on 9/21/22Allegiant Stadium - Las Vegas

The stadium was beautiful, the team store was huge, food prices were way less than other stadiums (dodgers, staples, angels stadium). The accessibility to the venue and the number of open gates eliminated the long lines, over all was far better than many stadiums I’ve been to. I didn’t give it 5 stars because the exit was a travesty. 4 flights of stairs with dim lighting and concrete walls packed with people, no air/ventilation AT ALL. If you have been to staples, it’s a similar exit to the conference center parking but far narrower and felt never ending as it was dark and again, no air or ventilation.

    Raider game

    by C. C. on 9/21/22Allegiant Stadium - Las Vegas

The stadium is awesome. The game itself was fun until the end but the raiders didn't do enough to win. Raider Nation 4 life. We will be back for more raiders football

    WORST EXPERIENCE COMPANY EVER

    by b. a. on 9/9/22

I can't believe a company this big/impactful has the worst costumer service. Their reps are clueless on how to assist, can't give you any numbers. They are clearly just reading off a script and have no idea about their product or business. THey have no numbers or ways to transfer calls to assist. I was on the phone for over an HOUR waiting on an issue and of course they just ended the call during the wait period. I spent all day tryign to get a hold of a live person and their number is always busy. CARLOS the rep from tix sales could barely speak properly and just kept telling me to call the line that wouldn't work. It was a horror show and i'm still on hold

    Awesome Experience!

by Jose Perez on 8/29/22Allegiant Stadium - Las Vegas

This was me and my son’s first NFL game ever, and to put it simply in one word “Spectacular”. Being an active duty veteran I appreciate the time!
