Las Vegas Raiders History

The Las Vegas Raiders began play in the American Football League in Oakland in 1960. In 1963, they hired head coach and general manager Al Davis, who engineered the greatest one-year turnaround in pro football history, leading the Raiders to a 10-4 record after they posted a 1-13 mark the year before.

From 1967 to 1977 the Raiders appeared in three consecutive AFL title games and six AFC championship games. They won their first national championship title at Super Bowl XI in 1977, beating Minnesota 32-14. In 1980, they became the first Wild Card playoff team to win a Super Bowl, beating Philadelphia 27-10 in Super Bowl XV.

The Raiders moved to Los Angeles in 1982 and the following year won their third national championship title, defeating Washington 38-9 in Super Bowl XVIII. After returning to Oakland in 1995, the Raiders won three straight AFC West titles from 2000 to 2002 and earned a berth in Super Bowl XXXVII. As the only franchise to play in the Super Bowl in the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s, the Raiders are known as the “Team of the Decades.” The Raiders relocated to Las Vegas in 2020 and made a playoff appearance in 2021.

The Raiders have 30 members of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, including owner Al Davis.

    A great experience all round

by Squeaky on 10/12/23Allegiant Stadium - Las Vegas

Getting the ticket for the game was easy through Ticketmaster, although up until it was scanned through the entry gate, I was having my doubts as it went so smoothly. The Raiders Stadium layout was great, well controlled and a really comfortable experience. The stadium itself is a beautiful layout and although my seat was quite high, the view was perfect. In summary, this is an experience I WILL repeat again,

    Crowd control

by Bare on 10/12/23Allegiant Stadium - Las Vegas

This was the smoothist entry into a major sporting event We have been to. Getting to the stadium, into the stadium and back out again was no problem. The stadium staff did an excellent job. Other stadiums should study their strategy.

by ASJ on 10/4/23Allegiant Stadium - Las Vegas

Awesome atmosphere for the game. Stadium is amazing, views of the field were great. Beer, snacks and sodas were pricey…but it Vegas. Seemed like Steeler Nation was taking over the Raiders home

    Awesome Stadium

by Cheryl on 9/29/23Allegiant Stadium - Las Vegas

The stadium is awesome! Not totally helpful for someone with wheelchair or motorized scooter. Employees not totally aware of elevators or their locations.

    Beautiful stadium

by Moodyone on 9/28/23Allegiant Stadium - Las Vegas

The Stadium is beautiful. We were 3 rows from the top and could still see the field easy. Every seat is great. Entry was easy. Exit was hard. We walked the zombie walk to Mandalay Bay and it took forever. I'm a Steeler fan and was a little nervous about Raider fans. (rumors) I have to say, every Raider fan we came across was soooooo nice!

    Awesome, will be back!

Easy access, plenty of ticketing lines, plenty of concessions.

    Great venue

    by doublej on 8/16/23

overall, this is a great venue to watch an event. exiting the parking lot at Mandalay Bay was poorly organized and absolute Chaos. Affordability is the only complaint. Tickets are expensive as are concessions. This is NOT your OAKLAND Raiders crowd. There were lots of young kids and safety concerns were very minimal. There will always be a few belligerent spectators but those were few and far between. Wearing visitor gear to a Raiders game has never been this safe. Atmosphere was respectful and fun. Can't wait to return to what has to be one of the best places to watch an NFL event.

    by Anonymous on 8/16/23

Raider’s game was awesome! All the info on Ticket Master through emails from ticket purchase to game day was a pretty easy deal. First time live football event for me and finding the seats I wanted was simple. Definitely use again to purchase game tickets..

I Grew Up A Raider Fan

by Oakland DB Cooper on 8/14/23

Born in 1962 to a home of Oakland CA. parents. Into a large Irish Catholic family that saw this team arrive 2 years before my birth. By the time I was entering Kindergarten the Oakland Alameda County Coliseum was just opening. My dad loved the Raiders and taught his sons to love them as well. My goodness, I remember being at games in the 1970's that were wild. The team was hardcore, and so were the fans. I still have a ticket stub from a MNF game in 1975 against Bob Griese and the Miami Dolphins. It was just 9 short months after the "Sea Of Hands"playoff game between the Raiders and the Dolphins. The ticket price...$12.00. Granted, that was 48 years ago. But that same ticket to a REGULAR SEASON game in Las Vegas is nearly ONE HUNDRED TIMES that amount this season. I realize everything is more expensive in 2023 than it was in 1975, but NOTHING is 100 times more expensive! Homes....maybe 25 times higher. Gasoline.... almost 10 times more. Food....probably 10 times as much. Wages....about 10 times higher. But current NFL ticket prices are obscene! Is the value there? I say, NO WAY! This Raider team isn't 1/10th the team of the 1970 era Oakland Raiders. Certainly not even 1% of that teams greatness. This current Raider team is a joke, yet they want over $1,000 for ONE decent seat to ONE regular season game! They expect fools to pay these prices to watch a bunch of crybaby ghetto kids making tens of millions of $$$ take a knee during the National Anthem??? Talking about how OPPRESSED blacks are in the USA. I had an uncle and a cousin pay the ultimate sacrifice in WWII and Vietnam respectively so that these "oppressed"multi-millionaires can be FREE to kneel as a sign of protest. May Hank Brown and Denny Daughton Rest In Peace. I would rather taste the north end of a southbound mule than to pay over $1,000 to watch these millionaire uneducated useful idiots play their lousy style of football. I genuinely hope the NFL fades away eventually. I doubt it will because I see ignorant youngsters today. Boys thinking they are girls. Men marrying men. We have lost our way in America. The crowd I sat with in 1975 watching that MNF game in blue collar Oakland doesn't exist anymore. The 2023 version of men are SOFT as .....well, (you know). Boycott this ripoff garbage. Spend your money on your loved ones. The ones that deserve your love. I'm out.

    Welcome to the Death Star

    by OG Ballhog on 5/1/23

New Stadium, priced out most of the the Oakland/LA fans, but they can’t stop me. Been to 10 home games in the past two years driving from LA it’s too EZ. Beautiful Stadium, (they will kick you out at a moments notice) but where is the Los Angeles Raiders Championship banner that was moved from the Coliseum to the Hollywood Raider image?

Best food in a stadium and best stadium..

    by Raider Joe on 3/30/23

Been to 6 raiders home games past 2 seasons . It’s the best stadium in the nfl with the best location. Because it’s Vegas drinking and food options are off the hook. Looking forward to seeing Jimmy G this year I’ll be coming back.

    Above and beyond

by Old Head 77 on 2/15/23

Enjoyed a game with my son. The poor kid is a patriots fan. Glad to see Chandler Jones run it back down my side of the end zone for a raiders win. I had sixth row seats -corner end zone. Pricey but worth it if you only attend a game a couple times a year. Service was exceptional and I hope they keep their home in Vegas and never move again.
