NICK OFFERMAN & MEGAN MULLALLY LIVE:
After a dozen years of marriage, comedy super couple Nick Offerman & Megan Mullally have turned their raunchiest and funniest personal experiences into their new stage show Summer of 69: No Apostrophe. Known for delivering the laughs on shows like Will & Grace and Parks and Recreation, the pair makes it personal in this variety show by offering a rare glimpse into what goes on behind closed doors in their captivating and adventurous relationship. In addition to endless laughs ticket buyers will receive life lessons, ribald songs, and classic gags all in equal measure. Summer of 69: No Apostrophe is touring select cities across America to make all of your hilarious fantasies come true.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Megan Mullally and Nick Offerman initially hit it off while the two were working on The Berlin Circle, a play that ran in Los Angeles in 2000. After a couple of warm-up years, the comedic duo was wed and they haven’t looked back since. Initially more established than Offerman, Mullally helped him transition to television acting with a guest spot on her long-running sitcom Will & Grace. After Offerman landed the role of Ron Swanson on Parks and Recreation, he repaid the favor by recommending her for the role of his character’s bizarrely sexual ex-wife. As his star has risen in recent years the two have found more opportunities to work together, including the films Smashed (2012) and The Kings of Summer (2013). In fact, the couple devised Summer of 69: No Apostrophe as a way to tour together and avoid the time apart that usually comes when trying to coordinate two successful acting careers.
This show was hilarious!! What a great duo!!! Beautiful venue!
These 2 are practically idols for my husband and I. Tammy and Ron all the way! :) great show. We didn't know what to expect so we were intrigued by the Nancy and Beth opening and then surprised by the raw, honest, and sometimes vulgar repertoire they chose but overall we had a wonderful time and would love to see them again!
Funny, quirky and irreverent -- rapid fire pop-culture humor -- parts with audience participation especially funny-- they were quick to adapt to the audience
I really wanted to leave a positive comment on the Nick and Megan show, but sadly I cannot. Unfortunately, I read the reviews AFTER purchasing my tickets so we went and I kept and open mind. While they may be trying to go for the informal feel, it comes across as not really put together. I counted at least 10 people leave and I know that more people would have left but you get called out if you leave. Really Nick? If you don't want people to leave, have a disclaimer that you have crude and sexual content throughout your show. To say a woman left your show because you think she shard her pants was just not cool since she paid good money for your show. The majority of people coming to your shows are your sitcom fans. I'd have to say that Nick seems pretty much like Ron Swanson in real life, just without the tv censorship. I actually like Megan a lot more now, she's very talented.
Nick Offerman & Megan Mullally are a lovely couple. I am a fan of their respective sitcoms. I am more of a fan of Nick Offerman's books. Although it was nice seeing a lovely couple together, the show was pretty boring. I actually fell asleep. I was hoping for stories, and I only got bit and pieces.
The show was amazing. These two are perfect! I would love to see them again.
This was such a fun show. Nick and Megan are great performers and keep you interested the entire time. The songs were hilarious and relevant! I wish I could see it over and over again!
In Boston, the crowd was told that cool people never write reviews, and that Megan was expecting to see a review entitled "Pre-ejaculate, one star!" Well, here it is. Nick and Megan are wonderful people, wonderful comedians, and wonderful spouses. The show was totally irreverent, and would cause many pearl-clutching moments for the prudish faint of heart. To those people, I say: stay home. You're not going to enjoy this, you'll drive down the ratings of the show, and possibly dissuade actual fans of these two from attending something they will truly enjoy. The show is called Summer of 69, No Apostrophe, for christ's sake. If you came to this show expecting a night of demure comedy with a smattering of witty repartée and sardonic musings, you're in the wrong neighborhood. Instead, the crowd was invited on a journey through the occasionally inexplicable but consistently beautiful relationship these two have built, with a smattering of adult acne and ukelele ballads. It was extremely enjoyable, had me smiling every second, and laughing through most of them. The worst part of the show was the awkward seating of the Wilbur, where I nearly ate a woman's overly-coiffed hair that was unceremoniously shoved in my face due to the sideways seats on the floor. Nevertheless, I'd eat an entire plate of weave if it meant I got to see this show again, Nick's pre-ejaculate and all.
Long review made short: Nick and Megan seem to be a very entertaining couple - I love their work on TV and in movies - but this show was a miss. I never did this before but ended up leaving about 2/3 of the way in. Apparently several other people felt the same way by the slow, polite exodus. I'd like to chalk it up to (maybe) a bad night - but the material was awful. It was almost like it was thrown together at the last minute. Better luck next time, maybe...?
Sorry. I have always liked Nick and Megan but---yikes. Their act just isn't funny. Save your money.
