Minnesota Wild History

The state of Minnesota was without an NHL franchise for seven years after the 1993 departure of the North Stars. That void was filled when the city of Saint Paul landed the Wild as an expansion team in 2000. Hall of Famer Jacques Lemaire took over as the franchise's first head coach.

The Wild advanced to the Western Conference Final in 2002-2003 behind the play of right wing Marián Gáborík, and has gone on to post a winning record in almost every season since. Starting with the 2012-2013 season, Minnesota reached the postseason six consecutive times.

Center Mikko Koivu spent his entire NHL career with the Wild and is the franchise's all-time leader in games played, points and assists. In 2022, the Wild retired Koivu's jersey, the first player in franchise history to have a jersey retired. Overall, the Wild has qualified for the Playoffs 13 times in its history.

    Go Wild!!!

by Scrappygirl on 2/22/23Xcel Energy Center - Saint Paul

Our visit to the Wild game was great. We had bar rail seats on the suite level. This was great because there was room to sit or stand and you have a ledge to lean on or put your drinks down. Very comfortable. Great view. Overall fun experience.

Section 113 Land of Lost Phones

by Al on 1/31/23Xcel Energy Center - Saint Paul

The game experience was great. Fun intermissions. Great time. One suggestion figure out how to block the open area under the seat in the removable seats. Three different people lost their phones through the hole. Warning signs, some sort of mesh, something? The Excel staff was awesome and handled the lost phones fast and efficient. Thank you!

Awesome experience to see the Wild!

by Luke on 1/17/23Xcel Energy Center - Saint Paul

I absolutely love the Wild and was stoked when I was able to get the amazing seats I got! Seeing them play was a great experience. I only wish the tunnel (where my seats were) didn’t have the plexiglass to obstruct your view of them entering the ice.

    Seats sucked

by Robert Noirjean on 12/6/22Xcel Energy Center - Saint Paul

The app showing these seats before purchase does not show how obstructed the view really was. We could only see 2/3s of the ice. You cheated us. How can you sell seats like this.

    Great game parking disaster

by Kp on 12/6/22Xcel Energy Center - Saint Paul

The game was an exciting game. We took our son and friend for his birthday. Parking was a nightmare. I bought a parking pass when I purchased the tickets. The QR Code did not show up. I had to pay twice for parking. The line to park was astronomical. We missed the first half of the first period. I’d rather watch hockey on TV if it’s that difficult to park.

    Great Wild game

by Chris on 11/6/22Xcel Energy Center - Saint Paul

It was a fantastic experience, even if the Wild got shutout. Xcel Energy Center is an excellent arena and there's not a bad seat in the house. Plenty of options for food and drinks. Will be back again sometime this hockey season.

    Great time!

by Super Dave on 11/4/22Xcel Energy Center - Saint Paul

We had a great time last Tuesday night watching the Wild defeat the Canadiens. Our seats were 11 rows behind Montreal’s bench and we spent the night joking back and forth with some rival fans. Can’t wait to see the Wild defeat Pittsburgh on the 17th!
