About

The Toronto-based Metric, who've won a large audience playing the club circuit in both Canada and the U.S., released their first album, Old World Underground, Where Are You Now?, to much acclaim from fans and critics in 2003. Backed by guitar, chirping synths and other pop-friendly instruments, singer Emily Haines provides vocals that range from soft and breathy to bold and fierce. The album's subject matter is also diverse, featuring songs about social standing ("The List"), difficult political issues ("Succexy") and other wide-ranging topics. 2005's Live It Out, the group's second album, offers further proof of Metric's impressive versatility and knack for crafting catchy pop-rock gems. Over the course of their career, Metric have brought countless venues to capacity, like Observatory (North Park) and The Fillmore (Philadelphia).

Sold out show but had tickets for sale at door!

by Music Luvr on 10/18/23The Concert Hall - Toronto

The Metric concert at The Concert Hall was great! My only complaint is that the show sold out on Ticketmaster within seconds, and yet when I arrived they were selling tickets at the door! I was suprised and dissappointed because I'm sure a lot of people would have liked to go but didn't because they thought it was sold out. How were people going to know that there were tickets for sale at the door? I myself had to buy tickets from someone who could no longer go to the show well in advance since it sold out on Ticketmaster.

Relatively small venue. Great energy, felt intimate—very fun!

    Elated I got to go

by KudraK23 on 10/14/23Bowery Ballroom - New York

I've been listening to Metric since ~2006, but never had the means or opportunity to see them until this year. Such phenomenal energy. The band sounded great; a more memorable concert than most. My critique has nothing to do with them; they really deserved a bigger venue.

    Great, but started early

    by rograbt on 7/16/23

This was the second time seeing Metric in Michigan. First time was headlining 10 years ago, so I knew they sounded great. As the opening act for Garbage & Noel Gallagher, I expected a shorter show, but it ended up being even shorter because they started 15 minutes before the 7pm start. We got to our seats a few minutes before 7 and they had already performed 3 songs. I mean we could hear them while walking to our seats, but still it’s the experience of watching.

    Amazing Experience!

    by Kaiojinn on 7/11/23

The show opened with a local band called Sweat; which did an excellent job of pumping up and entertaining the crowd prior to the headliner Metric taking the stage. Sweat had a great sound and took time after the show to meet and greet the fans, sign merch, answer questions ect., all in all I thought they did a great job and deserve a favorable mention in this review. Once Metric took the stage the theatre exploded, Emily Haines does an amazing job with vocals and is high energy throughout the show. James, Joshua, and Joules are all fantastic musicians, which meld into one of the greatest musical experiences you will ever have. I have been to many shows in my lifetime, and I am not sure if it was the small theatre which allowed everyone to be up close to the bands, the acoustics, or the sound and energy metric produces, hell, it might be all of that combined. That being said, this was probably the best show I have ever been a part of. Everyone was having a great time and really got into the show. The setlist chosen was basically a greatest hits compilation for metric, with every song being something, if you are a fan of metric, could sing along to. At the end of the night, Metric is one of the greatest bands in the world, and I for one am glad I got to witness them live in my lifetime. I went to this show with my wife and daughter (it was a gift for my daughter's birthday) and it is a show that we will remember and cherish for forever. If you are ever on the fence about whether or not to go see metric live, do yourself a favor and go, you won't regret it.

Long time fan, first time seeing them. Sounded great, looked great, lots of fun, just the right amount of fan interaction. Really talented musicians and a great venue.

I’ve seen Metric a bunch of times and this was great! They always have energy and their shows are amazing! I liked the venue even though I wasn’t thrilled about the town. Great show, great band!

    Wouldn’t see again

by Canadian on 6/19/23TempleLive Wichita - Wichita

Did not enjoy show and left early. Expected a more lively show and they didn’t perform one of the biggest songs “Gimme Sympathy”. Being a fellow Canadian, it was disappointing.
