A fun evening with fans of 80s classics and guest
by JRod on 6/30/23I wasn’t sure what to expect. I had never been to a movie showing which included a guest speaker/actor. Being a fan of John Hughes movies and John Cusack’s career how could it be bad? I never had the opportunity to enjoy 16 Candles in the theaters. I still technically haven’t, sadly. This was my only issue with the evening, screen not big enough and audio left something to be desired. Aside from that the experience was immersive being surrounded by people who grew up on this movie and loved it as much as me if not more. All of us late 40’s to 50-something’s were transported back to our youth where we first met Anthony Michael Hall, Molly Ringwald, and the guest of honor John Cusack. I hadn’t seen this movie in years but amongst the crowds of fans we all reacted. We laughed, we cheered, we spoke the lines before they were spoken. It was truly a joyful experience filled with nostalgia. John Cusack made it even more magical. He was open, warm, endearing, and down to earth. I was impressed with how willing he was to answer all the questions and floored by his patience. I had to leave early, but Cusack carried on answering questions from the literal peanut gallery. It’s true his role in the movie was small but you could see the potential. I love this movie so showing this movie in a theater-like setting was an instant draw. I hope LiveNation creates more of these events in the future.
