    Great concert but a baby

by Sue on 10/16/23Jimmy’s Jazz and Blues Club - Portsmouth

Joey Alexander is amazing. Third time we've seem him and he gets better all the time. His fellow musicians were awesome as well. Wish the concert had been a bit longer but guess one can just play at his intensity for just so long! The reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is that the venue allowed someone to bring a baby. Unbelievable. Thank goodness we weren't next to the table, but could still hear it at times. So distracting for the artists. Blame on two fronts: first, the parents for even THINKING of taking a baby to a performance like this. Secondly Jimmy's ALLOWED it! Cannot believe that they don't have an age limit. I feel sorry for folks who were seated next to the baby and had paid good money to (or try) to listen to this wonderful performer. At the beginning the announcer makes a statement of telling people to keep their conversations to a minimum during the performance. Counterintuitive to letting a a baby admitted. Jimmy's needs to immediately do something in not allowing babies into the venue.

    What a Jazz Pianist

by JonLovesJazz on 10/16/23Jimmy’s Jazz and Blues Club - Portsmouth

First show experience at Jimmy’s and I will return. We sat in the main room in the back corner. With the high top table and chairs, was perfect viewing. The acoustics were very good. Food was very good. Service excellent. The show was brilliant. The three players were very tight. Show lasted about 100 minutes.

    Mighty Alexander

by Captbillk on 5/1/18Balboa Theatre - San Diego

He may be relatively small in stature but he's a giant at the piano. When he stands up and attacks the keyboard, you know you're hearing a genius at work.

    and he's 12

by Patola46 on 4/10/16Berks Jazz Fest - Reading

Joey is an amazing young talent. I enjoyed the show. Each song seemed better then that last. I enjoyed the chemistry between Joey and his drummer. Although from where I was sitting I couldn't see Joey's face, the face of the drummer sure said that they were having a great time. If this is what he is doing at 12,i am looking forward to watching his career grow.

    Truly Amazing!!

by HJSimms on 4/6/16Berks Jazz Fest - Reading

Saw 60 Minutes and followed up in finding this appearance. I am soooo glad I attended. I am a big fan of jazz and am a semi-pro player. The selection of musicians to work with Joey was perfect; each majorly contributed in his own right. And then there's Joey! Wow! Words cannot describe the gift he has.
