About

Jay Z 4:44 Tour

Though his musical endeavors as an artist, label exec and producer provide the foundation for Jay-Z's empire, he's also a successful serial entrepreneur. He's made his mark in the fashion world with his Rocawear clothing line, and he's branched into the sports world -- first as a part owner of the Brooklyn Nets of the NBA, then as the owner of the Roc Nation sports and entertainment agency. As he rapped in one song, "I'm not a businessman / I'm a business, man."

Jay-Z's rise came from humble beginnings. He and his three siblings grew up in a housing project in Brooklyn's Bedford Stuyvesant neighborhood, and he was raised by his single mother after his father left when he was 11 years old. His early lyrics refer to a life rife with gun violence and drug dealing, and he's claimed that he turned to hip hop as a way out of poverty.

Carter began to get noticed as a rapper in 1989, when he joined an older performer and mentor named Jaz-O to record a song titled "The Originators," which landed them on an episode of  Yo! MTV Raps. Around this time, Carter began to perform as Jay-Z out of respect for Jaz-O and as a nod to his childhood nickname "Jazzy."

After bouncing around in relative obscurity, Jay-Z and two friends, Damon Dash and Kareem Burke, took things into their own hands by creating their own label, Roc-A-Fella Records, in 1996. Jay-Z's first album, "Reasonable Doubt," was released that June, and immediately established him as a star-in-the-making.

From there, it seemed Jay-Z could do no wrong. He's sold more than 50 million albums worldwide, amassed 17 Grammy Awards, and has become known as one of the greatest rappers ever. He married Beyonce Knowles in 2008, and Forbes has ranked the pair Hollywood's top-earning couple.
Jay-Z's concerts regularly sell out, with fans scooping up tickets to see a true living legend who can command an audience with or without a huge stage production. In fact, his early Magna Carter shows were one of his most stripped-down productions, but nonetheless generated consistent raves from fans and critics alike.

Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s tag team show was a dream!

by AngieGg on 10/8/18CenturyLink Field - Seattle

OTRII was the best show I’ve ever seen! The music spanned years of both of their amazing careers. The costume changes were stunning. The dancing was ridiculous! It all came together so seemlessly!

    Great show

    by KayeV1 on 10/8/18CenturyLink Field - Seattle

It was a great show, but unfortunately they started 2 and a half hours late. It wouldn’t have been that bad if it wasn’t 50 degrees outside.

On The Run II was Amazing!

by Anonymous on 10/8/18CenturyLink Field - Seattle

Beyonce and Jay-Z never disappoint. Their collaboration is above par. The sound was perfect, the HUGE screens made the concert experience exceptional at all view points. And their vocals and dancers...well, other performers should take note! The venue was also Top Notch from its cleanliness to its staff. The venue staff (ushers, food court, security entrance) were all courteous and professional. Would love to see this dual again which would be my 3rd time because they are the best performers out there! And hopefully more artist choose this venue (Century Link) as their stage of choice!

    OTRII

    by L2A13 on 10/8/18CenturyLink Field - Seattle

I liked the concert, the venue was great! However the concert started too late though... I was there since 5:30pm and concert didn’t begin until like 9:40pm. I would’ve known, I would have gotten there later. I didn’t stay the whole time though :( so I didn’t see the end of the concert.

    BEST CONCERT EVER!

by EssieBee on 10/8/18Levi's® Stadium - Santa Clara

I bought tickets in the 100s section back in March or April for $238 with fees. Then in August I saw the Club Carter tickets were going for $299!! So I called Ticketmaster and did a cross reference exchange and got the Club Carter Tickets. Arriving to the venue (Levi’s): VIP had our own check in line :) My ticket was standing room only, so I was on the floor. I felt like a true VIP as there was red carpet beneath me. I wish Chloe x Halle didn’t go first because not many were there. They have amazing voices but they do not have that stage presence yet. I feel like the more and more they perform, they’ll gradually get it. DJ Khaled: didn’t care much for him. He brought out a couple acts including Kash Doll and Sage the Gemini. Homegirl said “what up Oakland” which made me look at her sideways. I was excited to see Sage and his fine ass :) After Khaled’s set, Club Carter people were let into the Club Carter VIP area, which was even closer to the front! At this point I was 4 or 5 rows of people behind the stage. Beyoncé really snatched my wig. I would like it back. Please if anyone has seen it, give it back to me! Vocals were on point as always. Those fans were at work as always too, making her hair blow. Dancing was amazing, outfits were SICKENING. Jay Z didn’t do shabby either. Loved his performance of 99 Problems. The screen behind them was huge and really helped to pull the show together. I loved the intro right before J and B came out. Them using that elevator was also iconic. And the stage that went over us- I’ve never seen that done before and I thought it was really cool. Loved the pyrotechnics too. Sometimes I thought the mic was too low though. Other than that, amazing show!!
