About

Hozier is one of the most successful folk artists of the 21st century. Born Andrew Hozier-Byrne, the Irish singer-songwriter first toured internationally as a member of the Irish vocal group Anúna before going solo in 2012. His watershed moment came a year later when his first single, “Take Me to Church” was released. In 2014, it rose to No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 and ushered in Hozier’s self-titled debut, which itself reached No. 2 on the Billboard 200. “Take Me to Church” closed 2014 as Spotify’s most-shared song of the year and garnered Hozier’s first career Grammy nomination for Song of the Year. His 2019 sophomore full-length, Wasteland Baby!, topped the Billboard 200 and was supported by Hozier’s first solo headlining world tour. In 2023, Hozier released his third album, Unreal Unearth. Throughout his career, Hozier has collaborated with artists such as Mavis Staples, Annie Lennox, Maren Morris, Noah Kahan, Brandi Carlile and composer Bear McCreary.

    what a man

    by Molly on 2/27/24

I saw pookie at Innnings Festival in Tempe and I am obsessed. He is so sweet onstage and even a bit shy, he says thank you after every song and acts like it's his first performance. His set list was so diverse and a good balance of his new album and his other songs, he puts so much of his heart into it. He also sounds just as good in person as he does on the studio albums. Although there was 24,000 people there, it still felt intimate and cozy, but that may just be because I had barricade. He gave credits to his band 2 times and same for his team who weren't even all on stage. At the end he rolled credits for them after verbally thanking them. He is such a humble person. His stage was wonderful as well and very pretty, the visuals were awesome. He even came down the stage to high five people and step up onto the barricades stairs. He was funny and his vibes were amazing, you would think he was an underground artist with how he acts, clearly he was raised right. A lot of people critique the venues and stuff but I could care less how crowded it was, he was the star.

    Totally Unexpected Gift

    by Pushing 60 on 1/29/24

Been going to concerts for more than 40 years. I've seen The Stones, The Who, U2 (a few times each in the 80s and 90s), CSNY, Eagles, Heart, The Police, Sting, Pink Floyd, Santana, Van Halen (with David and Sammy), and a hundred more along the way across genres and venues from Khalid at the Moda Center in 2018 to Charles Wesley Godwin at the Knitting Factory, Boise in 2022. Not included in the list above is the band I saw the most. Twenty times or more, because they were so next-level amazing live. Better than on record. Music performed so beautifully it makes your heart hurt, your soul sing and, perhaps, moves you to tears. At this point in life, I did not entertain the thought there might be another artist with that power. Then I saw Hozier. Stunning. So thankful for this totally unexpected gift. Portland...Las Vegas...next up, Bend!

Pushing his political agenda at performance

    by XX on 1/5/24

His music is good, but he interrupted the performance to push his own political agenda. It’s especially annoying because he is not even well-informed about the topic. I enjoy his music, but would probably not pay to see him live again.

Great set pieces, band and vocals.

    by Brandon on 12/20/23

His voice is so great live. Sounds the exact same as the studio recordings. I like the inclusion of the band members, they feel like a family up there on the stage. The set pieces all look great and add to the experience.

History in the making -Seattle WAMU 10/24/23

    by Jazz on 12/12/23

Truly one of the greatest artists of our time and I know he'll be remember as such decades from now. He's the type of artist that many of us will be bragging about having seen live when we're all in our 60s, reminiscing. It's the type of music that feeds the soul, and it's a beautiful blend of old and new. This is the second time that I've seen Hozier and his band at the WAMU, and while I love smaller venues, it was a bit difficult in the pit as I'm only 5'2", and I didn't want to suffer in heels (I learned this lesson at another concert). The energy was amazing, and at times we were a bit quiet but I think it was because we were so focused on the music. That or we were all a little low on vitamin D due to the weather lol. Hozier was at the top of his game vocally that night and it really seemed like he gave it his all. His backup vocalists were great too, but I think they should've turned up Melissa's mic during Nina Cried Power. Her low range is gorgeous and I wish I could've heard it more clearly. I had listened to only a couple of the songs off his new album before the concert but it made it kind of a neat experience to have heard them for the first time live in concert. I was really hoping they would perform All Things End but I'm hoping they will next September! They also played a lot of their older songs and we got to sing along in a call-and-response for To Be Alone, which we nailed. I was also close enough to the stage that I think he heard me which was pretty cool. This really felt like a double headliner. Madison Cunningham and her group were just STUNNING and I was made an instant fan. My jaw literally dropped. They couldn't have picked anyone better. They were so damn good that I had to pick up their vinyl on my way out the door, and I'm now a regular listener! This was really an unforgettable night. If you're thinking of seeing them live, do it! You won't regret it. Thank you for another outstanding show. Looking forward to Ridgefield!
