HILLBILLY CASINO IN CONCERT:
For the past decade Hillbilly Casino has been rocking fans with their inimitable style, swaggering showmanship, and rollicking blend of alt country, psychobilly, and straight up rock and roll. At the band’s juiced-up live shows suspendered frontman Nic Roulette holds his mic in one hand and a beer in the other, delivering his twangy vocals with a mixture of punk attitude and country charm. Rounding out the group’s unique sound are standup bassist Geoff Firebaugh, guitarist Radioactive Ronnie Crutcher, and drummer Matthew Arnn, whose tasty licks and breakneck tempos provide the backbone for Roulette’s mischievous onstage antics. Whether they’re performing beer-fueled anthems like “PBR” or tearing through the “Tennessee Stomp”, Hillbilly Casino always treats ticket buyers to one heck of a good ol’ time.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Hillbilly Casino was formed in Nashville, TN in 2005 by standup bassist Geoff Firebaugh, who previously played with venerable alt country outfit BR549. Firebaugh engineered and produced Hillbilly Casino’s self-released 2006 debut album Sucker Punch, and he brought the same DIY spirit to the band’s booking and management. In addition to becoming a popular local act, the band piled into their Econoline van for several self-booked tours that earned them a strong regional fanbase. They released their sophomore album Three Step Windup in mid-2008, and followed up with their Christmas album Hang Your Stockings….. Say Your Prayers in December of that year. Since then they’ve continued to tour tirelessly, treating fans around the country to their boisterous brand of rockabilly-infused alt country.
we watched the opening band...yes they were from the east coast....got that. Guitarist, she was good! The rest, just going through the motions. If there was a band after that I hope they were better because we left.
Hillbilly Casino is a great band, but the Blasters are by far the best band I have seen in a long time.
Although you don't mention the Blasters ,their part of the show was amazing...they are in their 60's but have lost nothing thru the years. Between Hillbilly Casino and the Blasters it was a show that I won't soon forget.
