About

For nearly a decade, HAMILTON at New York’s Richard Rodgers Theatre, with its innovative mix of history and hip-hop, has remained “The Room Where It Happens” on Broadway. The groundbreaking Lin-Manuel Miranda production, based on Ron Chernow’s 2004 biography of founding father Alexander Hamilton, has gripped theatergoers since its 2015 debut. Immediately hailed as another milestone achievement by Miranda, who previously won a Tony Award and a Grammy for his first musical, In The Heights, HAMILTON became the most-nominated production in Tony Awards’ history and won 11 of its 16 contests, the second-largest haul in the ceremony's history. Among many other accolades, the musical earned a Pulitzer Prize in Drama, two Emmys for the stage film released on Disney+ in 2020, and a Grammy for the 2015 original Broadway cast recording, which peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart and became the first Broadway cast album to reach Diamond certification by the RIAA in 2023. While it certainly made Lin-Manuel Miranda as much of a household name as the man behind his titular role, HAMILTON also launched the careers of his castmates, including Leslie Odom, Jr. as Aaron Burr, Phillipa Soo as Eliza Hamilton, Renée Elise Goldsberry as Angelica Schuyler, Daveed Diggs as Marquis de Lafayette/Thomas Jefferson and Anthony Ramos as John Laurens/Philip Hamilton.

    A Family Blessing!!!

by Little Hutchins on 12/31/19Richard Rodgers Theatre - New York

Our family came from Phoenix, Las Vegas and San Francisco to all meet in NY to enjoy this amazing show. We ranged from ages 9-60 and every single person left amazed! My kids (9 and 13) and my niece and nephew (11 and 13) left in amazement on how well the performance was. They knew ever word but didn’t even have a second to sing as they just sat in aw of the performers. This is my wife and I’s second time seeing the performance (once in Las Vegas) and both shows were just amazing! Thank you for blessing us this holiday season!

    Amazing show

by J. R. on 12/30/19Richard Rodgers Theatre - New York

I loved the music before coming but now because of such an amazing performance it gave it more meaning. The performers were phenomenal and gave a lot of depth to their characters! Would happily go again.

    Hamilton

by Hamfan on 12/30/19Richard Rodgers Theatre - New York

The show rocked the house, of course. But man were the ticket-takers rude. And there should be some way to let people (women people) actually get to use the restroom during intermission, and not just spend the whole time waiting in line. Also: we had great orchestra seats, but also had serious fanny fatigue by the end of the show. Major pain in the butt. Seats need an upgrade after so much use (show is too damn popular)! 🤔🧐😂

by Linda Achenbach on 12/30/19Richard Rodgers Theatre - New York

This was a present for Christmas for my grandchildren and we experienced it too. We all wished we could turn around and see it again. Once you get past the rap (my husband and i are 70) you understand what is going on. We have seen lots of broadway theater and this show is at the top of our list

    Fabulous

by Johnx2 on 12/27/19Richard Rodgers Theatre - New York

Our son and his wife gave us tickets, and came came to visit and go with us to see Ha Liston. Previously we had listened to the CD, and really loved the music. However, the actual stage performance was beyond expectation because the multi dimensional performance was 10 times the experience of listening to the music. Is is absolute genius to create this performance interpreting the biography of Hamilton in a way that rises and directly impacts today’s youngest generation. The choreography that can only be seen at the performance was incredible. Thank you Lin Manuel, performers, stage hands, producers, and everyone else ever involved with this production.

One of the Greatest Musical Performances Ever

by Eleanore T. on 12/26/19Richard Rodgers Theatre - New York

Hamilton is a tour-de-force. I knew much of the music and, consequently, the story before going, and still the performance itself was indescribably more. The choreography, dance, expressions, body language ... everything comes together to enhance and create an even more scintillating experience than I'd hoped for.

Absolutely loved the show. The theater is great. Seats are a little crammed but that seems normal for Broadway.

by A. G. on 12/24/19Richard Rodgers Theatre - New York

For the first few minutes, I was unsure if I would enjoy the show. By the end, I was speechless, the cast, story and production were phenomenal. The next day, I bought 4 more tickets and can’t wait to see it again!

I wanted to watch the whole production all over again.

by Dori on 12/23/19Richard Rodgers Theatre - New York

This is the best production I have seen in years. It may be the best ever. Had no idea how current the history presented was so presently relevant to today. I learned more than any level of education ever taught. Lin is a genius and the actors were exceptional. BRAVO, BRAVO. BRAVO!

    AWESOME EXPERIENCE

by Scoop on 12/23/19Richard Rodgers Theatre - New York

There's a reason this show won all kinds of awards - it is AWESOME. The music, the acting, the theater - all fabulous! \ My only caveat - check carefully to make sure your seat doesn't have a "restricted view." Our seats were good, but some of the action was a little hard to see because of the balcony above us.

    Disappointed on cast

by Peggy on 12/22/19Richard Rodgers Theatre - New York

Love LOVE Hamilton, the musical, but we were disappointed with the new Hamilton and Lafayette. We attended the musical on 18 Dec 19 at the 8pm show. The new Hamilton lacks passion and performance, while Lafayette doesn’t have a good accent and is too big to glide around the stage. It’s a great musical, therefore we were surprised at how these two made the final cut considering Hamilton still sells out every night. While leaving the performance, we heard several other people talking about the same lack of passion from that Hamilton. Thank you for the opportunity to share,
