112, Jagged Edge, Guy, Keith Sweat -- what?! It was great to relieve my 20s for a night and remember it all the next day. LOL I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED 112 and Jagged Edge. I've always enjoyed their music from Day 1. And they didn't disappoint nearly 20 years later. The singing while dancing was still on point. Next, was Guy. These "guys" aren't that young anymore, but they stayed in their lane. They didn't try to compete with the singing while dancing like the other two bands. They could do one or the other well, but not both together.. at least not for a sustained amount of time. It was great seeing the guys back together. After years of fingerpointing and breakups, their stage presence revealed none of that. They owed the audience a great show and they delivered.
Lastly, there's Keith Sweat. He's the reason for the 4 stars. The man may have once been the CEO, but he really needs to pass the corner office to the next R&B King. Sweat let his backup singers do the heavy lifting on the vocals. AT one point there was a video of his duet with Kut Klose. The video played half the song! He spent the other half, walking back and forth proclaiming, "I'm gonna need some Hennessy for this one." I hope he's in a profit sharing plan with the liquor b/c he talked about it all night. Sweat, like Guy, didn't try to sing AND dance, so he spared us the possibility of terrible vocals. Speaking of vocals, the man's still got the voice, I'm just not sure he has the stamina to give a 40 minute set 100%. I'd say he delivered maybe 75%.
All in all this was worth the ticket price, even if the stadium seating was made for Munchkins.
