About

DEAD & COMPANY IN CONCERT:

Deadheads rejoice! The Grateful Dead have been reborn as Dead & Company, delivering all the groovy vibes and extended jams fans know and love. Longtime Dead members Bob Weir, Bill Kreutzmann, and Mickey Hart are joined by superstar singer/songwriter and accomplished blues guitarist John Mayer as they blend rock, folk, funk, jazz, and psychedelia to blow fans' minds with epic aural bliss. With their spacey instrumental interplay and awe-inspiring solos, the group organically weaves their way through audience favorites like "Truckin'", "Casey Jones", and "Fire on the Mountain". The long, strange trip is back on the road -- Dead & Company are bringing their positive energy and uncanny musical genius to ticket buyers everywhere.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

The Grateful Dead were instrumental to the '60s psychedelic sound and hippie culture. Jerry Garcia (guitar/vocals), Bob Weir (guitar/vocals), Phil Lesh (bass/vocals), Bill Kreutzmann (drums), and Ron McKernan (keyboards/vocals) got things rolling in 1965. Excluding McKernan and Garcia, who died in 1973 and 1995 respectively, the core lineup has remained virtually unchanged sinc then. Many other musicians have helped shape the band’s sound as well, especially second drummer Mickey Hart, who joined the Dead in 1967. The band toured excessively throughout the ‘70s, ‘80s, and ‘90s, famously playing sets that exceeded the three-hour mark. After Garcia's death the group soldiered on, continuing to build their legacy through fearless sonic exploration. It was not until their 50th anniversary in 2015 that the Grateful Dead decided to retire their name. Fortunately for fans, their retirement was short-lived as pop singer/songwriter and blues guitarist extraordinaire John Mayer brought Weir, Hart, and Kreutzmann back out for more legendary jam sessions. Dead & Company continues in the Dead's spontaneous and inventive musical tradition -- just the way Deadheads like it.

    meh

    by mkav on 3/4/24

We saw DnC in Dallas. While there were a few highlights, overall the show was...boring. I've seen various iterations of the Dead, Garcia and Weir bands since 1975. Maybe 50-60 shows. This show was the lowest energy I've ever seen. We actually left early for the only time ever. It apparently was a one-off as shows I watched on YouTube actually sizzled. I'd go again because of their track record but was really disappointed in what will likely be my last Dead show.

    Puzzled

    by JckStrw on 2/5/24

I’m fortunate enough to have seen the Grateful Dead many times with Jerry at the Berkeley Greek Theater, one of the best venues ever. I saw many variations of Further, Phil Leah & Friends, etc and the current Dead & Co. What puzzles me is why has Bobby slowed down the tempo in so many songs? It’s hard for me to fully enjoy the songs. I’m happy for him that these never ending final shows are so successful and that a new legion of fans are enjoying the music I have loved music since the late ‘70s.

Caught them all over. Boston, Chicago, NYC, LA. Hoping they play a bunch at the sphere and it’s not a billion dollars.

    Best final tour ever!!!!!!

by Ethan “Marinara” Murphy on 9/25/23

It was the experience of a lifetime to do an entire tour. The feeling of going on the open road doing what I love to do with all the time in the world is a good feeling. Going places you’ve never been. Being with thousands of people just like you it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity I just wish I could’ve hopped on the bus sooner but at least I caught this one. Next best thing is Phish (lot wise) but bob weir and wolf bros is really good for Grateful Dead covers. Whenever dead and company plays again DO NOT MISS IT!!!!!! I’m gonna catch them all no matter how far. Enjoy the ride

Dead & Co. Citi Field, Corona, NY

    by Christopher Walsh on 8/15/23

Dead & Company Citi Field, Corona, New York June 22, 2023 Opening with Feel Like A Stranger showed Bob Weir’s voice to be a bit rickety but he was up to the task for Estimated Prophet and American Beauty’s Truckin’. Appropriately wearing a Mets jersey, John Mayer’s guitar came close to Jerry García’s on Cumberland Blues, while bringing to bear his own virtuosity. Their choice of covers is always stellar, with a great take on Merle Haggard’s Mama Tried and Mayer’s brilliant soloing on Traffic’s Dear Mr. Fantasy. Jets flying overhead couldn’t compete with D & Co.’s amplifiers, particularly on Alabama Getaway. A highlight of the second set was a joyous Scarlet Begonias and bassist Oteil Burbridge handled the vocals on Fire On The Mountain. They parted with a poignant Brokedown Palace, a tale of separation and departure, appropriate since this is their farewell tour. The band always attract a beautifully peculiar crowd. D & Co. are as close as anyone can get this side of Heaven to a Grateful Dead show.

    Authentic and Magical

    by C. B. on 8/6/23

It’s the feeling I always want to have at a show. The music touches the soul, inspires, uplifts, brings out emotions. Dead and Co were tight as ever, Every moment was amazing to me, I just loved the set list, the jams, the interactions between the band members, the energy from the audience. I will never forget it. Five easy stars and I would do it all again and again and again

Venue did not live up to the Group

    by Mikey B. on 7/28/23

I LOVE the DEAD.....I've seen incarnations of the Grateful Dead over 50 times. I LOVE THE DEAD. Having said that. Saratoga Springs WAY Oversold the Venue and about 3/4 of the crowd could not even see the show. Saratoga performing arts center is a Nice place, BUT, the Issues caused by the overcrowding ruined the show. Do Not go see a "Big Time"band there....The venue cannot support that volume of people. Again, it's a very nice place.....But, avoid it if you actually want to see a "Big time"band. Thanks and Enjoy the Sunshine Daydream.
