by cameronww on 6/25/18The Hollywood Bowl - Hollywood

In 1980 I flew to LA, saw Pink Floyd perform The Wall Live, slept in the airport and flew home. In 2016 I flew to LA, saw David Gilmour Live, slept in the airport, and flew home. The Voice was amazing. The Guitar was amazing. The production was amazing. I wish you could have been here.

David is the most passionate amazing guitar player in the world by a landslide. I've seen in 5 times total in my lifetime and will every time he comes back. Rattle that Lock was absolutely amazing and If you don't know this, unlike most musicians, David is like a fine wine and actually gets better with age. Love you David come back soon please :)

A lifetime for myself and David too.

by WildKim on 9/25/16United Center - Chicago

Attending this concert with my husband, being entertained by David Gilmour and his crew's talent, was a spiritual experience for me. We had last seen Pink Floyd in Louisville and Lexington, Kentucky, then Indianapolis, Indiana, in 1987 for their Momentary Lapse of Reason tour and again in 1994, for their Division Bell tour, attending three of the closest shows to our home. We were young parents, so had to break the bank to take our children with us, our daughter was born in 1986, so was one and seven when she attended, and our son was born in 1994, so was 4 months old for the Indy concert. Needless to say, our children grew up on Floyd, our pediatrician was a fan too. I did not think we would ever see David Gilmour in concert again, after he lost his Floyd family member. I spend a lot of time in the hotel looking at ole photographs and You Tube videos, and saw the same thing had happend to David that had happened to us. A whole lifetime had gone by. Thank you David, for every song and every time I heard it during this lifetime.

    THE VOICE of Pink Floyd

by CalGold on 5/21/16Hollywood Bowl - Hollywood

David Gilmour is THE VOICE of Pink Floyd. And he proved that tonight on his "Rattle That Lock" solo tour. I never got to see Pink Floyd when they were still together, but I have seen Roger Waters, & now I know firsthand that David Gilmour is definitely THE VOICE of Pink Floyd. This show was the best, visually stunning show I have ever seen. Videos were projected onto the Bowl's shell to expand & enhance the videos played on the traditional Pink Floyd circular screen behind David. The sophisticated synchronization of 30 plus projectors projecting onto the Bowl's shell is said to have been the first of its kind at the Bowl. True to Pink Floyd form, the videos were both actual live actor videos as well as animated videos. My favorites were the colorful, psychedelic images. There were also lasers timed to the music. A subtle effect was the 3 spotlights on the ground arranged in a triangular pattern that were pointing up to the sky & converging on a single point to form The Dark Side of the Moon pyramid. What was a little strange was that the video screens on the sides of the Bowl were rarely used. However, when they were projected onto, we got a real treat of watching close-ups of David Gilmour playing his guitar solos. The way he bent those 6 strings was unbelievable. I have no idea how the strings did not break seeing how far he was bending them. David played a good mix of his solo songs & Pink Floyd songs. He played 7 songs off his new solo album "Rattle That Lock". The videos that accompanied these new songs really made the songs come to life. Plus he played 2 songs off his other solo album "On an Island". And he played 13 Pink Floyd songs that spanned the decades. 22 songs in all. The concert lasted 3 hours, having only one intermission. Wow. David Crosby (of Crosby, Stills, Nash, & Young fame) was the surprise guest singer on three songs. The crowd went nuts each time he came out. He even sang on the final encore song "Comfortably Numb", singing the Roger Waters part.

    Finest guitarrist ever!

by WWquinse on 4/30/16Auditorium Theatre - Chicago

David is one of a kind. The band behind him could not be more fitting to his enchanting music, both his own and PF's classics. The show (lights, sound and the venue) was flawlees and amanzingly enjoyable. The crowd was absolutely crazy. It was worth up to the last cent to have come all the way from Tampa, Florida to beautiful Chicago to witness what I knew it will be a show to remember for ever.

    2nd Night Rattled

by ObiJuanKenobi on 4/27/16Hollywood Bowl - Hollywood

On the second night of David Gilmour, we already felt like veterans. Great crowd and the venue sparkled as it did the previous night. David started the evening at 8 PM by playing 5 AM and continued through his set list with several changes from the night before. Crows flying out from the bowl, coins dropping from the top of the bowl and lava patterns adorned the rim of the bowl. All the other reviewers have mentioned how much of a master on the guitar and a great showman David is. They are right. The visuals were as good as the previous evening and the fireworks for Run Like Hell seemed to have lasted longer. At the end of the song, David said Run Like Hell, "WTF was that"????? as the crowd cheered on. Here is hoping they choose those nights for DVD. Today was a day where those not On An Island, were Coming Back to Life as they spent Money having the Time of their life thinking to their best friend, Wish You Were Here, dancing like a Girl in The Yellow Dress, but were filled with Sorrow as the band completed their set and held on to High Hopes David and band return soon.
