About

CHON IN CONCERT:

Prog rockers Chon marry impressive musicianship to bouncy grooves, promising ticket buyers a live-wire concert experience that's both exciting and intriguingly heady. Six-string shredders Erick Hansel and Mario Camarena take a dizzying tag team approach to their guitars, winding through intricate melodies and jazzy harmonies on standouts like ĂŹDewĂŽ, ĂŹFluffyĂŽ, and ĂŹBubble DreamĂŽ. Mesmerized ticket buyers canĂt help but sway in time with the groupĂs nimble rhythm section, whose booming back beats and complex polyrhythms provide a syncopated backdrop for each instrumental. As Chon pushes the boundaries of prog rock, audiences get to witness guitar virtuosity, creative rhythms, and beautiful harmonies that are just as capable of blowing minds as they are of getting bodies grooving.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

While some Southern California teens spend their young lives obsessed with surfing and punk rock, the members Chon spent their days mastering rock instrumentals and learning to melt faces with their impressive chops. The San Diego-based math rockers began working on a self-titled demo in 2008 while playing the local emo and hardcore scene. After a two-year hiatus the young quartet regrouped and released the 2013 EP Newborn Sun. The following year they issued their debut album Grow before touring in support of bands like Circa Survive and Animal as Leaders. The exposure prepared them to undertake their first US headlining tour in 2016, with supporting acts Polyphia and Strawberry Girls. Word  continues to spread about the electrifying energy that Chon bring to the stage and fans canít wait to witness their astonishing technique in the flesh.

Bands = Top Shelf | Crowd control team was Rock Stars too!

by Rejyna on 12/18/19House of Blues Anaheim presented by Cricket Wireless - Anaheim

Wow! Intervals, BTBAM and Chon, how could it not be spectacular?!?! The bands were great! Unexpected stars were the crowd control team at the front, they actually enjoyed helping surfers make it up unharmed, smiling and fist bumping surfers. That was a nice change from the Mayan security... The drinks were good, parking was good, sound was as expected, way too loud for any real sonics or dynamics...yawn. General admissions shows that close their balconies to save on staffing costs should consider that many of us are not coming back for that reason alone. We love the surfers and the GA environment, but we are watchers more than moshers. Some of us want to sit and soak in the whole of the performance. Balconies are the best asset, only dummies close it because of low tix sales - they don't get it that some people only come for the balcony view and sound experience.

    Chon is lit! 🔥👌

by Beto on 12/13/19House of Blues Houston presented by Cricket Wireless - Houston

Concert was amazing! Having Intervals open the show the way they did was the best way to start a concert! Wished they played more songs but it was still awesome having then start! Second band BTM was boring and played for way too long. They were all over the place. Don't really like their style. And I also felt this wasn't a good band choice for the type of music Intervals and Chon play. Didn't really fit with them. Chon! Ah Chon! Second time I see them live here in Houston. They killed it! Just phenomenal performance! They came back a delivered more! You can tell they enjoy the Houston crowd as much as Houston enjoys them. Over all 5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ stars

    Great Cherch

by S. B. on 12/11/19Buckhead Theatre presented by Cricket Wireless - Atlanta

I started calling Chon merch "cherch", which is hilarious. They also had some great merch so that contributed to the evening. I like the venue and Chon did a great job of jamming as usual. They played exclusively their instrumental tracks which is what I wanted, so that was perfect.

    Great time! Just cold.

by Abi on 12/6/19The Fillmore Silver Spring presented by Cricket Wireless - Silver Spring

I understand it's December and I wore a bunch of layers, but the AC was on or at least I felt cold air on me for the whole show. I thought it would get warmer with more people and moshing but I was still cold. Probably just a me problem and not the venues fault, but if anyone is typically cold, I'd suggest wearing layers and purchasing the coat check voucher!

    Fun show! however...

by Wolf on 11/25/19The Fillmore Detroit presented by Cricket Wireless - Detroit

Huge btbam, intervals, and chon fan. All put on a great show however would’ve liked to see btbam close. I understand them playing in the middle to allow for maybe a shorter set or to play a different variety of their music, but the energy buildup form intervals to btbam was amazing and then fell short from btbam to chon. I imagine I’m not the only person who felt this across this tour but figured I’d leave this comment Incase anyone was wondering that hadn’t been there or was interested. Great sets from all 3 though. 🤘🏼

    Great show terrible sound

by 100plusshowsthisyear on 11/20/19Fillmore Auditorium (Denver) - Denver

Fillmore's sound is consistently the worst in Denver, treble is way to high (often even painfully so) and mix is way off, but I'm sure this comes as no surprise to anyone that's been to the Fillmore in the past year. Otherwise, this was an excellent show, the bands really showed up and put on a great performance

    Terrible Sound Wiltern

by T on 11/11/19The Wiltern - Los Angeles

The bands all put on great performances but unfortunately the sound at the wiltern was absolutely atrocious. My friend and i have both seen btbam more than 7 times over the last 15 years and they always sound phenomenal. Intervals and between the buried and me were both eq’s so oddly that we were unable to hear certain instruments through the set. We heard multiple other strangers complaining about how awful the sound was as well. It really ruined the show for us unfortunately.
