With five Grammy wins and sixteen nominations, Brittany Howard follows up her massively acclaimed solo debut Jaime with the new single "What Now" and teases what is to come from her upcoming album of the same name. Like Jaime (whose celebratory single "Stay High" earned a Grammy for Best Rock Song), What Now finds Howard once again taking the helm as producer and working closely with longtime collaborator engineer/co-producer/co-mixer Shawn Everett. The album emerged through a deliberately free-flowing process, with Howard doubling down on the unfettered creativity that's long defined her work. "I don't ever plan too deeply, but usually I show up with the songs almost fully formed," she says. "There was a lot of exploring sounds on the spot, and trusting that the right thing would come to us."
"What Now" takes on a potent urgency fueled by its syncopated grooves, blistering guitar riffs, and fiercely honest lyrics ("I've been making plans that don't include you anymore/My heart wants to stay but I don't know what for"). "'What Now' is maybe the truest and bluest of all the songs," says Howard. "It's never my design to hurt anyone's feelings, but I needed to say what was on my mind without editing myself. I like how it's a song that makes you want to dance, but at the same time the lyrics are brutal."
There's a double meaning to the title of What Now. "With the world we're living in now, it feels like we're all just trying to hang onto our souls," says the Nashville-based musician and frontwoman for four-time Grammy Award-winning Alabama Shakes. "Everything seems to be getting more extreme and everyone keeps wondering, 'What now? What's next?'

Boy, did she deliver- soulful, bluesy and funky, we were grooving right in front of the stage all night.
A newly inventive sound - sultry, classic, Motown, and rock vibes. The performance and the venue were amazing! If you like intimate setting, bay front views, this was it. Great space to get up and dance or bring a blanket, sit down and cozy up. Thanks Brittany Howard and band for coming to San Diego, CA; we loved you!
I have been wanting to see Briney Howard for a while and she did not disappoint. She is great live and I would definately go see her again.
This was an awesome show Brittany Howard gave everything and you still wanted more and the best shows I've seen this year and I go to a lot of shows but this is worthwhile if she comes to your town go see her show you won't be disappointed
I found this concert to beautifully reflect Brittany Howard’s brilliance. Her music is transcendent and I love her energy. When she jammed on the electric guitar, I got goosebumps. I did not want the concert to end.
Britney Howard gave a beautiful show at the Filmore. She did not disappoint performing songs from her newest release Jamie and other original material. The music was infused with soul, rock, funk, jazz. The musicians who accompanied her were extremely talented. They all vibed and shared with the crowd a performance that was magical. The Filmore venue and staff contributed to the good energy. It was an amazing night of exceptional music and good fun.
The sound mix at the filmore is unbearable. The bass washes out everything else and is oppresssive and muddy.
Brittany brought the house down. Amazing sound, amazing band, amazing venue!
Her stage presence is out of this world. The stage lighting and amazing backing band made it a full package performance.
