About

BECK IN CONCERT:

Alt-rock icon and master of reinvention Beck made a return to form of sorts in 2014 with Morning Phase, a companion album to 2002's beloved Sea Change. Eschewing the irony and sampling featured prominently in many of his other outings, Beck's latest is awash with earnest optimism and acoustic instrumentation — the result is a lush, organic, emotionally charged tour de force that comes across as beautifully in live concert as it does on record. Backed by a full band, Beck hits the road in 2014 for the Morning Phase tour, which includes a much-anticipated appearance at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio, CA.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Born and raised in Los Angeles, Beck moved to New York in 1989 and cut his teeth in the city's anti-folk scene before returning to Los Angeles in 1991. In 1993, his limited-release single "Loser" became a surprise college radio favorite, eventually growing into a mainstream Top 10 hit and garnering him a flood of label offers. Signing with Geffen Records, he released Mellow Gold in 1994, launching to both critical and commercial success virtually overnight. 1996 follow-up Odelay would prove even more successful, spawning three hit singles and taking home several Grammys, including Best Alternative Music Album. In the ensuing years, Beck's creativity and fearless experimentation have made him one of pop music's most idiosyncratic talents — the acclaimed 2014 release of Morning Phase, his twelfth studio album, proved that he's just as vital today as he was 20 years ago.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"Beck was ridiculously amazing. If you get a chance to catch him live, do it while you can. He is a true showman and should not be missed."

"As usual Beck put on an amazing performance. He played a few songs from each album (including the reader), and he played every last one spectacularly."

"He plays a mix of his old & new material, both acoustic & electric, he breaks out the harmonica, then plays a cover of Billie Jean. What!?! I only wish it could have gone on all night long."

    Giddy-up, WOW

by Melissa on 9/5/23Huntington Bank Pavilion at Northerly Island - Chicago

"Wow! It's like right now."Beck did not disappoint! He and the band put on a great show! We smiled and danced in the general admission area where we found spots near the stage. The sound was high quality and every song was spot on. "It's my life, your life. Live it once, can't live it twice."I'm glad we took the time to enjoy this great concert. "My friends, your friends."Don't miss out! Go see Beck if you have the chance.

    Excellent Experience

by KT on 9/4/23Huntington Bank Pavilion at Northerly Island - Chicago

The show quality was incredible, the drinks were tasty (though too pricey), the chili tots were delicious, the staff were all so nice, and the bathrooms were pristine.

    Beck is amazing every time

Live Nation and Northerly island - WHY ARE THERE CHAIRS???? Every single person we talked to dislikes this. Chairs at a concert do not make any sense, at least for any artist that everyone wants to dance to. Beck was utterly fantastic, sound was great. But chairs are a giant bummer. Also love no plastic allowed, water refill and coffee bar :)

    Beck doesn’t disappoint!

    by Henry on 9/3/23

Went to see Beck this past Thursday and what a show it was. He played all of his greatest hits. Everything you’d wanna hear, the only one I was bummed he didn’t play was “Sexx Laws.” He and the band had great energy, and you couldn’t take your eyes off of him! Also glad I got the general admission pit tickets, as me and my brother got a perfect front row view. Sound was good, no complaints from me. A good time was had by all. If you have the chance to see him on the Summer Odyssey tour, do it!

    Great Show

    by Claygurl on 9/3/23

Phoenix played with Beck and it was great. I'm not a huge Phoenix fan but they were energized and clearly having a great time. I kinda wish their set was a little less and Beck more, but the overall concert was great. Beck did a couple songs from many of his albums so we heard some older stuff - which I LOVED! It was all pretty upbeat - not much of the slower, melancholy work. The aesthetics were good. Some fun backgrounds for songs. Phoenix used some great art as background. Overall a fun show.

    Beck

    by Cgd on 9/3/23

The show was amazing that’s my review for the artist. The venue was not great. We average 15-20 shows per year. Tickets are getting more and more expensive and you are getting less and less. Many will say I’m part of the problem because I keep buying and I agree but I love live music and I pay face value always. Even still the prices look like they used to on the resale market. We came to Chicago to see Beck one night and Duran Duran the next. I payed to be close for Beck and we were traveling so we got there just in time for the show so I didn’t have time to notice the venue only that it was in a beautiful location. We came earlier for Duran Duran and we couldn’t afford to be close to the stage so we paid more than the Beck tickets to “sit” all the way in the back. Its a flat parking lot with tiny folding chairs, zero view and no room. The chairs way too small for an adult to sit next to another adult. We were between 2 families and our 2 seats became 1 and we had to switch off. 3 bands so standing the whole time should not be what to expect for 175 per seat. They tied together tightly and the rows were so slammed together obviously In an effort to sell as many tickets as possible. So why sit? Walk around, enjoy the venue, get food and drink you say, well as is in many venues the food was overpriced and average. Spent 25 on 2 warm cans of water and a stale pretzel. All in all the place was designed to make as much money as possible by offering the worst experience a person could tolerate just to hear, not see, a favorite band. As I said I see 15 to 20 acts a year. It’s expensive. It is the same many would spend on luxury vacation, Ive seen it all and I’ve felt the industry devolve but I have never felt compelled to leave a negative review. I haven’t even mentioned the lack of enough porta potties or the fact that security was pretty lax ( I’ve gotten used to that sadly). This is the first time in 20 years of concert experience that I’ve felt truly ripped off. No matter how badly I want to see a band performing at this venue I won’t be back. I drive 5 hours to see the acts that skip St. Louis, if this venue is the closest option in the future Id rather drive further.

    Best stage lighting ever

    by Connie on 8/29/23

The stage set up and background was awesome! I have been to hundreds of concerts and this was one of the best displays I have ever seen, even better than Gorillaz which is always entertaining. Beck is always awesome live, his voice is almost exactly the same as on his recordings. I am so glad I went to this show!

    Mellow Gold

    by Robert H on 8/25/23

Great performance. There aren’t too many songs Beck has written that are just average. He’s a musical genius and he has a million styles and he’s exceptional on every album. The show only reinforced that, and some of the guitar parts were even better live, he’s got a great band. The visuals were fantastic as well. As for the venue, I loved the electronic tickets and the VIP parking, loved the tshirts and the Loser keychain I bought. This is the first time I’ve seen Beck live and I wasn’t disappointed.

    Wow, what a great concert

    by AmericanDissident on 8/25/23

OK, first. The Moody Music Hall is awesome. Next, both Beck and Phoenix were epically awesome. With 20 years of music to go over, their selections were perfect. One bitter note was that Beck did not do "Up All Night!"Bummed.. but forgivable
