Ambar Lucid's music career may have begun with a few humble cover songs on YouTube, but it didn't take long for her to start making waves in the industry.

And she's just getting started. With her raw talent and an ambitious drive, Ambar Lucid is destined for great things in the music world.

Lucid was born in Little Ferry, New Jersey, to a Dominican mother and Mexican father. Her father was deported back to Mexico when she was still a child, leaving Lucid and her mother behind. This experience would significantly shape her songwriting, something defined by her deeply personal lyrics that often explore themes of heartbreak, loss and redemption.

A completely self-taught musician, Lucid is adept in piano, ukulele and guitar, adding to the range of possibilities for eclectic aesthetic choices in her songwriting. She honed her vocal talent through YouTube videos, firmly cementing her commitment to manifesting her dreams of making it as a musician.

While she was still a senior in high school, she caught the attention of an agent in L.A. who flew her and her mother to California for a meeting of the minds. The agent made the case to Lucid's mother, and with a dream in her heart, Ambar Lucid moved to L.A. to pursue music full-time -- with her mother's blessing.

A vocal force of nature was born. With a full-length album and tours booked, the world is experiencing Ambar Lucid in all her wonderful, haunting glory.

Released in 2020, her debut album, Garden of Lucid, is moody, ambient, atmospheric, and indicative of a young musician on the cusp of greatness. The album is genre-bending, with a unique blend of folk, pop, R&B, and hip-hop arrangements among the tracks.

Lucid's passion is intentional. In a Pitchfork interview, she expressed her desire to connect with people through her music by telling them things she wished she had heard in her younger years, like the importance of being present and listening to your emotions:

"That's my biggest concern with music," Lucid said during the interview with Pitchfork, "to provide a certain healing for people that they can't find anywhere in front of them."
