With their 40th anniversary at hand in 2013, legendary country band Alabama embarked on their first tour in more than a decade and released an officially endorsed tribute album titled "Alabama and Friends." The album features current country stars covering some of Alabama's country-rock classics -- including Kenny Chesney on "Lady Down on Love," Jason Aldean on "Tennessee River," Luke Bryan on "Love in the First Degree," and the Eli Young Band on "The Closer You Get" -- along with two new Alabama songs. It was a fitting tribute for the most successful band in country music history, which logged 34 singles that topped Billboard's country singles chart between 1980 and 2011 and has sold more than 75 million albums. The band's core remains the same as when it was founded in 1969, when they were known as Wildcountry: Randy Owen (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), his cousin Teddy Gentry (bass), and another cousin, Jeff Cook (lead guitar, keyboards, fiddle). By 1973, the trio had decided to pursue music full time and they signed their first record deal -- and changed their name to The Alabama Band at the label's request -- in 1977. By the '80s, the band had hit its stride, moving huge numbers of concert tickets and filling their trophy cases with multiple Grammy, CMA and ACM awards.
Great show as always enjoy the venue very much. Hope to see them again in the future
It was great to see them live! I knew the downfall would be the age of the band, so with that being said, it was a good show. I was especially thrilled to hear my favorite Christmas song! The sound with the opening and Alabama seemed off though. Like the mics were too loud compared to the music with Lorrie Morgam and Pam Tillis, and not loud enough compared to the music for Alabama.
Enjoy the concert, music was great, still entertaining, loved it!!
This show was fabulous. They sounded great and still have the it factor. Well worth the money.
I felt like I was at a bar watching a band from a distance. I can't believe they wasn't on the big screen where we could actually see them. I know what they all looked like back in the 90's went to their concerts back then.
I attend multiple concerts a year and this one had everyone clapping and dancing along with the music. Such a fun concert! Only disappointed was the fact that they didn’t have cameras showing the concert live on the big screen. I had decent seats and still had a hard time seeing them. I know the ones in the uppers seats had a hard time seeing them.
Venue was excellent!! Alabama was amazing!! Lorrie Morgan and Pam Tillis were so good too!! Wonderful evening!!!
Music was good, did not like ending the song and then replaying the end so the audience could sing. Wish they had used a screen for those of us not on top of stage.
I’ve been waiting since I knew what concerts were as a kid to see Alabama. Yes, those guys are older now, yes, I knew it would be scaled back from the more typical country concerts these days, but they left several very popular songs out of the night. The couple sitting next to us had been to five Alabama shows before and said it’s never been like this. Their “Roll On” tour didn’t even feature that song. I thought for sure it would be at the end, it wasn’t, neither were others, so even though we enjoyed the night, we left disappointed because they left out multiple hits everyone knows.
Disappointed that ther was no jumbotron for some better views of the performers.
I was in the nose bleed section cause I’m poor. Would had been nice if there was big monitors in place where we could see the band better.
The opening show of Pam Tillis and Lorrie Morgan was mediocre for me. I had hoped to hear Ms. Morgan sing a Keith Whitley song, Don’t Close Your Eyes. But she sang one I associated with Allison Krause. Randy Owen and Teddy Gentry sounded as good as ever and the fiddle player blew me away with her talent. I stood for most of the concert as the music made you want to sway and move with their music. With so many number 1 hits by Alabama, I realize it was impossible for them to sing all their hit songs. There were a few I would have liked to have heard. I would have thought that the song Roll On would have been sung since that was the name of their tour. (Just my opinion). I felt very melancholy as the songs took me back to another place and time! The entire experience was awesome and unforgettable. I loved it! I saw Alabama back in the early 90’s at a private event in Nashville. So grateful to have the opportunity to have seen them again.
Awesome show, the whole thing was great and a lot of fun.
I’ll have to say this was the best concert I have ever been to, believe me I’ve been to many! From the start to the finish, everything was so wonderful. I grew up with Alabama playing at the Bowery in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. I told my husband one day these guys are gonna meet the right people; they’re going to make it big…..and they sure did! They have played for us for over 50 years. I’ll always remember them and their wonderful songs and entertainment.
it seemed like their audio was messed up which made it hard to understand, and they didn’t have anything on the bigger screens so it was hard to see
The Alabama Roll On Tour was AWESOME! This was my 2nd time seeing Alabama! They ALWAYS put on a great show! We had a wonderful time!
A wonderful evening of great music with Alabama as well as Lorrie Morgan and Pam Tillis.
Alabama is America’s group. Great music. Lori Morgan and Pam Tillis were great together Grits and Glamour.
Have loved Alabama for a long time. They continue to put on an excellent concert - like those of my younger years. Great guys, great music, great concert!
The sound quality was horrific. I sat behind the sound booth and once the man quieted the reverb, he went back to his phone. Lorrie Morgan kept motioning to her synthesizer player to cool it. Let that sink in. No drums. No base. A synthesizer. Poor Randy Owens. He tried but I was terrified he was going to fall at any moment. He’s lost his lower register. He was so exhausted he couldn’t finish a song and had the audience sing half the lyrics. Alabama used to be four people. It would have been so much better to have had four men, sitting down, telling stories, singing songs, rather than the debacle of a show they have now. And, the marketing department has totally missed the boat with merchandise. As evidenced by the staff that stood outside after the concert selling $20 t-shirts. I would have been super pissed if I had paid $40 before the show started. Just a total, horrible miss.
