About

For well over a decade now, A Place to Bury Strangers-Lunadon, founding guitarist/singer Oliver Ackermann, and, officially, Braswell-have become well known for their unwavering commitment to unpredictable, often bewildering live shows, and total, some might say dangerous volume. They don't write setlists. They frequently write new songs mid-set. They deliberately provoke and sabotage sound people in a variety of cruel yet innovative ways. They can and will always surprise you. "When something goes wrong on-stage, a lot of bands will crumble under the pressure," says Ackermann. "We like the idea of embracing the moment when things go wrong and turning it into the best thing about the show."

    A few words

    by Booker on 8/22/23

It felt surreal watching APTBS live in person for the first time. My ears were pleased with how abrasive and loud the show was. I chose not to wear earplugs and I don't regret it at all. These guys know how to put on a great show, easily in my top 5 concerts I've been to and the tickets were not even above $30 which is insane. Do yourselves a favor and come see Oliver and Co. live!

    First time

by Uz2Bjkey on 5/20/22Teragram Ballroom - Los Angeles

Brought the lady to APTBS after not going to a live show in nearly 3 years. The show stated and needed with a bang and had hidden off stage antics that pumped up the crowd. Only at one point did the bands stereo setup get out of hand and I had to put the fingers in the ears not as a sign of disrespect but merely to stop them from a ringing ( I loved every second of it). All in all it was a bucket list show for me and was so appreciative to be able to see these guys do their thing. If you haven’t seen them bows your chance

APTBS - Such a great show!!!

Seriously, you can't beat these guys live. They like it loud, so earplugs are a must. Such a fantastic wall of sound that kept me dancing the whole time.

This band is worth every dollar you pay to go see them, they put on an excellent and very loud show. If you have sensitive hearing you may want to purchase a pair of ear plugs.

    Aptbs awesomer!

by Freerange on 11/20/12Bowery Ballroom - New York

They continue to improve. Saw them a year ago and this show was even better. Without losing their sonic assault, it was easier to recognize the excellent, well crafted tunes under the decibles. Crowd had to mosh, just couldn't help it. Nice light effects, very intense to the senses. At this rate they should soon rule the world. Don't leave ear plugs at home.

A Place To Bury Strangers were mesmerizing!

by DarknStormy on 7/29/12Music Hall of Williamsburg - Brooklyn

The show from start to finish was impressive including the two openers. But APTBS delivered a performance that I haven't seen in years. The visuals, the lighting, and of course the rocking music all creating an atmosphere of pure sensory bliss. I've seen them before, but they have further honed their presence and I was blown away. Very enjoyable experience!
