Charlie Wilson Concert Schedule

The Gap Band alumnus and adult contemporary R&B superstar Charlie Wilson has been dazzling audiences and listeners with his sultry vocals since the takeoff of his solo career in the early 2000s. Charlie Wilson's tour dates feature an electrifying energy more akin to a tight-knit party than a sold-out concert, as seen in his 2017 In It To Win It Tour, his 2015 Forever Charlie Tour and his 2013 Love, Charlie Tour, among many others. Wilson is known for his smooth funk & soul singing style, which, combined with his talents as a songwriter, producer and keyboardist, has led to the creation of numerous R&B hits over his eight solo studio albums. On stage, Charlie puts on a show with an unmatched level of energy. He beckons crowds to take to their feet and feel the music as his band delivers with tightly composed rhythms and he serenades with his dulcet melodies. In addition to praise from fellow performers, Charlie Wilson's music has earned him 11 Grammy Award nominations, six NAACP Image Award nominations (along with one win for Outstanding Album), and numerous honors from BET, Billboard and Soul Train, along with acknowledgements from across the music industry and beyond.

Charlie Wilson Background

Charlie Wilson was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1953. The son of a Christian minister, he learned to play piano and sing in church, providing the musical background that led to the formation of The Gap Band with his brothers Ronnie and Robert. After the group announced their retirement in 2010, Charlie shifted his focus to concentrate on his solo career, becoming Billboard Magazine's No. 1 Adult R&B Artist and a breakout success. Wilson's first solo album, Bridging The Gap, came in 2000, earning him acclaim from the single "Without You." His follow-up release, Charlie, Last Name Wilson, went certified gold and produced the eponymous single (along with fellow R&B vocalist R. Kelly) by which he is most often known. In subsequent years, Charlie Wilson continued to release and chart on the Billboard Hot 200 and R&B/Hip-Hop charts and sold more than 1 million copies of his albums. Wilson has inspired generations of performers who also feature him on their own records. He was given the affectionate nickname "Uncle Charlie" by Snoop Dogg and collaborated with the rapper (and Justin Timberlake) on the 2013 track "Signs.

Unhappy with cooler bags not acceptable

by MsBttyBoop on 5/29/24Toyota Pavilion at Concord - Concord

I’ve been a long time attendee and always brought my cooler bag, NOT actual cooler. Fortunately, I had my food in the gallon bags and had an extra grocery bag in my trunk (which as clear!). The inconvenience of having to scramble to find this bag bcs I was NOT allowed to bring my cooler bag was just that… an inconvenience! Why change it!?!? Also, being a designated driver and allowed only ONE (1) cup of soda in such heat makes NO SENSE! Why even offer such a tease! The thought/offer was great, but to only offer one cup… again makes no sense!

Charlie puts on a good show all the time.

by Carmen on 5/29/24Toyota Pavilion at Concord - Concord

The Curtis Family, Big Daddy Kane, Montell Jordan and Keith Sweat were the least enjoyable groups. El DeBarge and Charlie Wilson were the top performers. I will not be spending money to see the first 4.

    Good Show but....

by BW on 5/29/24Toyota Pavilion at Concord - Concord

Charlie Wilson is in his 70's and his music will always be classic but his stage show was kind of difficult to watch. His back up dancers were fine but watching Charlie trying to dance around and grind in his unflattering skinny jeans was not sexy or cute. Ron Isley and Frankie Beverly have figured it out. They let their music and vocals carry the show. Love you "Uncle"Charlie!

by Les on 5/29/24Toyota Pavilion at Concord - Concord

was supposed to start at 12pm but didn't really start till like 4 and then long gaps for performer's to start. Not worth the wait at all. Ppl were leaving way before it was even over because it was too long of a wait.

A Great Way to Start Summer

by TallMocha on 5/29/24Toyota Pavilion at Concord - Concord

Everyone I saw had a great time. The staff was pleasant, and the venue was super clean (to be transparent, I did pay for the VIP Lounge, and it made allll the difference). I've seen Charlie several times, and as expected, he gave a great show. Keith Sweat did not disappoint, and Big Daddy Kane gave the ladies a nice shot of CHOCOLATE, his rap skills are still on point too. As a HUGE Switch and DeBarge fan, I was excited to see El DeBarge...and he was AMAZING!!! The sound quality was awful during his first song, but as a true professional he pushed through and gave me what I came for...a PARTY!
