    Deborah Cox carries the show!

by ElizabethMB on 3/28/18DeVos Performance Hall - Grand Rapids

I had a hard time writing this review, and Deborah Cox was very impressive in this show, along with the boy who plays her son. The songs and singing in this show were amazing! However, there was not a lot of dialogue between songs, especially in act 1, so I noticed that there was not as much character development. Act 2 was much better, and moved at a fast past. The story-telling was fascinating to watch! Overall, The Bodyguard was an OK show.

I was pleasantly surprised by this musical. I got tickets on a whim and was amazed at how wonderful it was. The singing was beautiful and it was well acted!! I only wish I would’ve seen it sooner so I could have come back and seen it again!! So much fun!

    Enjoyed The Bodyguard!

by Choppermomma on 3/14/18DeVos Performance Hall - Grand Rapids

We are always looking for something different to do for fun and entertainment. We attended the Sunday evening performance of The Bodyguard at the DeVos Hall on 03/11/18. Our programs informed us that Deb Cox was not going to perform, and I was sort of disappointed, since we paid full price for our tickets. Once the show got going, I saw that the stand in, Naomi C. Walley, was well prepared to fill Miss Cox's shoes! She, and the rest of the actors, singers and dancers did a fantastic job! The oncore of "I want to Dance With Somebody" was a perfect ending! We thoroughly enjoyed the performance, I keep hearing the songs drifting through my head, and I haven't stopped telling people about how good it was, ever since! Thank you, to all of the cast. It was a night out we won't soon forget!

    The Ultimate Date Night!!

by Kzookid on 3/14/18DeVos Performance Hall - Grand Rapids

If you are a Whitney Houston fan, you will love this show. Great music, Awesome live band (although you couldn't see them) and beautiful stage set. I was nervous when I bought the tickets because I have seen so many performer's attempt to do Whitney's music justice but I am now a new fan of Deborah Cox!!! She was Phenomenal and made Whitney proud. Warning: If you are looking for a replay of the movie, you will be disappointed. They tell the Bodyguard story but this is more about good singing and dancing. They throw in some nice comedy too. Relax and close your eyes and let Deborah Cox take you on a magical ride into Whitney Houston's musical library. Favorite Moments? 1) Deborah's rendition of "I will always love you". She brought the house down. 2) The audience dance and sing along with "I want to dance with somebody"

The Bodyguard was terrific. Fast paced, exciting and well performed. Broadway level of theater. Debra was Whitney!! The musical numbers had energy, creativity and sensual appeal. Bravo!

    Amazing singing

by MG51 on 3/14/18DeVos Performance Hall - Grand Rapids

Amazing singing, even sounded like Whitney Houston! There were tons of slow parts. We were the last show to see the original Rachel. The show after us were handed notes that she was not singing. I think I would have been disappointed if that happened to us.

    Deborah Cox Rocks!!

by Carla31mi on 3/13/18DeVos Performance Hall - Grand Rapids

What a wonderful way to spend a Saturday evening! The vocals of Deborah Cox were nothing short of AMAZING!! I can't wait to see what she decides to do next!! The cast were all very talented and the dancers did an exceptional job with the choreography. It was different from the movie with lots of Whitney songs through out. It was more of a tribute to her than anything else. We enjoyed it!!

Disappointed...Deborah Cox was resting her voice

by Dkwjack on 3/13/18DeVos Performance Hall - Grand Rapids

I was very disappointed to learn that Deborah Cox was not performing. Although, the website clearly stated she would be. I drove 3 hours to see her stand in. Not happy!
