Cost goes up- value does not

    by Anna on 3/17/24

My partner and I went to RI comic con for years, we've done VIP and standard tickets. The first time we did VIP we agreed we regular tickets weren't worth the cost and VIP was the only way to go. As the years have gone the cost of VIP has kept going up. Comic con is really only worth it if you have VIP passes, but the cost has reached the point that's it's just not worth going at all anymore.

    Fun, but...

by MC on 11/14/23Amica Mutual Pavilion - Providence

Celebrities we met were gracious and welcoming but whichever corporation/management team organized this event should be fired. The obvious greed grab (overselling autographs & photo ops), complete disregard for fan safety and comfort/break allowances for celebrity guests was over the top. For our group, celebrity interactions were our best experiences- overall we agreed, if we ever do this again it will be at a different location.

    Very good first experience!

by NJax on 11/13/23Amica Mutual Pavilion - Providence

It was a great first time going and will continue to go, but gets very packed and the organization is very up and down! Awesome time, some meetings, pictures and autographs I will never forget!

    VIP is Great

by Cam on 11/11/23Amica Mutual Pavilion - Providence

My VIP pass let me in early every day. No wait time. The big stars like Linda Hamilton had a special line which was very helpful. I liked chilling out in the VIP room, getting my own pop up locker, having a perfect sized bag for all my autographed pictures and special seats in the Q & A sessions. I’m doing the same next year!

    can't find anything

by ladyvincenza on 11/11/23Amica Mutual Pavilion - Providence

Since you asked for a a review, I won't be going again because the venue was huge and every event was very hard to find. You need directions just to get to the directions, and then you need directions for the first set of directions. Some signs would have helped!!!! I didn't get to see the speaker I wanted to see because it was too ridiculous to find where her panel was. People who worked the event claimed she wasn't speaking that day (Saturday), but I'm pretty sure she was. I think this was disappointing considering the money and time I spent.

    Much better run this year

by Testpattern on 11/11/23Amica Mutual Pavilion - Providence

I have been to RICC in years past, and have sworn off going because of how clustered it gets. This year, they lured me back with their guests, as they always do, and I decided to spring for VIP. I have 24 autographs and four photo ops over the course of three days and was able to get them all with time to spare

    The stars were out

by Lee on 11/10/23Amica Mutual Pavilion - Providence

The celebrity guest list was pretty impressive. Artist alley and the vendors were plentiful. Most of the celebrities were awesome with their fans and truly tried to accommodate everyone. I did have one negative experience with Carl Weathers. It may have been a decision made by his manager but he stood behind that decision. He was charging $300 per signature on "anything three dimensional ". Most relevant celebrities were charging an average of $50 to $100 per autograph. One other issue was with the volunteers, they were not very organized with letting people know which line was for vip's and which line was for regular ticket holders.

    Fun bit disorganized

by Steve on 11/9/23Amica Mutual Pavilion - Providence

I had a good time but the layout was very confusing and the celebrity lines were spread out in 3 areas and very poorly organized. And I had a VIP pass that ultimately didn’t get you that much as even VIP lines were long. They clearly oversold. Add to that a lot of the celebrities had higher prices for autographs than listed on the site. I still had fun and will be back next year but there is a lot they could do better in my opinion. 3.5/5

    Lots to do

by Marlowres on 11/9/23Amica Mutual Pavilion - Providence

The main show floor was great. Tons of celebrities. The logistics should be involved with the staging of fans for signatures. Needs a map of the event, we didn't find the hockey arena until the end of the second day. An app with all this info would be perfect. Also, more comic artists would be nice at a Comic Con. Overall experience was great.
