Avery Sunshine was amazing!!!! Noel Gourdin.......

    by TS2014 on 9/8/14Birchmere - Alexandria

Avery Sunshine put on an amazing show. She had great interaction with fans and it was a great "conversation" of music as she called it. I actually would have preferred her closing the show instead of opening. Now Noel Gourdin was a different story. Very few people knew any of his music outside of The River from a few years ago. I actually have all three of his albums and enjoy him but I did not enjoy him live. His sound was off on the first few songs. His crowd interaction was not the best and people were actually walking out on his set. Even though he has one more album than Avery Sunshine, next time I think he should open and have her close the show. It was keep people there for the whole show and decrease on the walk outs during the performance which just wasn't a good look

    Avery Sunshine was AMAZING!

    by Rita2 on 9/6/14Birchmere - Alexandria

This was my first time seeing Avery Sunshine live and she was wonderful, and I will see her every chance that I have. She for sure should've been the headliner! Her performance made it extremely difficult for anyone to follow....As far as Noel Gourdin, he has a great voice, but singing with the tracks wasn't very impressive along with the foul language. Overall the show was great due to the awesome performance by Avery Sunshine!

    Avery Sunshine Lights the Room

by JMPMusic on 9/3/14Birchmere - Alexandria

Avery Sunshine opened for Noel Gourdin and took everyone's soul on a journey through love, life, God, and church. Her personality and sound completely filled the room! And she made the audience a part of the show and constantly thanked us for being there with her. It was tough for Noel Gourdin to follow her act. He brought a usual R&B/soul show and almost half of the audience exited during his first 2 songs. His show wasn't an experience, it was just live music with backing tracks of background vocals. That isn't to say he wasn't a good singer backed by a good band but he should have been the opener. Avery's show was 100 % authentic and the audience served as her background singers.

AVERY SUNSHINE was FANTASTIC, Not NOEL!!

    by Balboa909 on 9/2/14Birchmere - Alexandria

Avery Sunshine rocked the house from beginning to end. A true professional who kept the audience engaged throughout her performance. I wish she had the evening (show) to herself, especially after Noel Gourdin's "PITAFUL" Performance and attitude! Apparently he wasn't ready to perform after hearing the cheers and applause Avery got after each and every song. At least, that's how he came out! His performance was as though he was the "new guy on the scence" and not the more known artist of the evening. He started curssing from the moment he got on the stage, especially after he drop his mike! His back up band didn't seem like they were connecting with him and often drowned him out through his entire set! He walked off the stage without introducing or thanking them once. He went off the way he came on "lack luster"!!!

    Avery was amazing!

    by JustD628 on 9/1/14Birchmere - Alexandria

Avery was outstanding and I'd listen to her all night! Noel, on the other hand disappointed me. He can sing beautifully. But, his band was louder than he was and often off key. The recorded background singing idea was horrible. He needs to find another way to have background when they can't be present. Many left during his performance... I stayed out of respect, but not sure I'd do that again. If it wasn't for Avery's dynamic performance, I would feel my money was wasted. Noel....please take heed and try again...I know you can do better.

    Avery*Sunshine is AMAZING!!!!!

    by g3mini72 on 9/1/14Birchmere - Alexandria

This was one of the best performances I have ever seen. Avery*Sunshine is a 'true' singer. She is gifted and talented and humble. Excellent show. Noel Gourdin was a disappointment, came out singing to his CD and dropped the mic during the performance. Who does that? Avery*Sunshine should have been the headliner, but I'm glad I didn't have to sit through him to see her.

    Avery Sunshine was AMAZING

by DeeSab on 9/1/14Birchmere - Alexandria

She is a headliner, she didnt need a 2nd performer, She was outstanding. We recommend bringing her back, SOLO.she was the buzz in the crowd. This rating is exclusively on her performance. Noel Gourdin wasnt bad, his music was a lil loud and drowned out his singing, he needs to remember his audience. For example saying terms like PYT and Dimes to 40 plus crowd.

    Avery*Sunshine is a star!!!!!

    by kdf1012 on 9/1/14Birchmere - Alexandria

Avery*Sunshine brought her A-game to the DMV on August 29, at the Birchmere, even going as far as to upstage the main attraction, Noel Gourdin. She was personable, entertaining, funny, humble, and most importantly talented. She traveled with her bassist, drummer, and guitarist, and she herself played the piano. Her performance was the right amount of everything, and for as beautiful as she sounds on recordings, she sounds even better in person. I mean; how rare is that? The crowd was clapping, head-bopping, singing along, and on their feet nearly the entire show. She was the epitome of a professional and made everyone fall in love with her more. She called her mom while on stage to tell her the show was sold-out. [That was cute.] She sang gospel, R&B, and Neo-Soul; kicked her shoes off, to get more comfortable, made some unforgettable faces, and it was easy to see that she loves what she's doing. After Noel's very forgettable set, she signed autographs, took pictures, and did it all with a smile. Wow; what a class act. She gets 5 stars for her performance, because she is indeed an entertainer. But Noel Gourdin ought to be released from his label for the nonsense he came with.
