Everyone's favorite ogre is back in the hilarious stage spectacle based on the Oscar-winning, smash hit film.
Based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks Animation film, Shrek The Musical is a Tony Award-winning fairy tale adventure, featuring all new songs from Jeanine Tesori (Thoroughly Modern Millie; Caroline, or Change) and a sidesplitting book by David Lindsay-Abaire. Shrek brings all the beloved characters you know from the film to life on stage and proves there's more to the story than meets the ears.
"Once upon a time, there was a little ogre named Shrek...." And thus begins the tale of an unlikely hero who finds himself on a life-changing journey alongside a wisecracking Donkey and a feisty princess who resists her rescue. Throw in a short-tempered bad guy, a cookie with an attitude and over a dozen other fairy tale misfits, and you've got the kind of mess that calls for a real hero. Luckily, there's one on hand... and his name is Shrek.

My only complaint was the quality of the audio -- I often had trouble understanding what the actors were saying. One note: don't depend on ticketmaster to relay your reservations. I paid a fee of $9/ticket to buy the tickets through ticketmaster, then when I arrived at Toby's, they did not have us in their system. Fortunately they were able to accommodate us with a table. I will not use ticketmaster again.

by seyi on 5/27/14Toby's Dinner Theatre Columbia - ColumbiaThe whole event ( dinner + show) lasted 4 to 4 1/2hrs, not what I expected. The dinner wasn' t all that ( I prefer medieval times menu). The show on the other hand was amazing, fun and kept you engrossed.

by Bielzebub on 2/21/12Lexington Opera House - LexingtonThis lively, well-staged production of the Shrek story created many laughs, smiles, and much applause from an appreciative audience. Many entranced children. The musical was superbly cast. Each character was a delight and the actors showed their fine talents to our pleasure. The songs were well sung and easily understood ( so necessary in a musical to move the story along). The staging and direction were exceptional to tell this clever story in a delightful and charming way so that the characters could sing and dance their way across the fairy tale kingdom with high energy. I will not single out one cast member for praise. The principals were all wonderful. The gifted chorus was strong; each playing multiple fairy tale characters.
