Paul Anka on Tour

If anyone's earned the right to mount a touring revue of Frank Sinatra songs, it's Paul Anka. Not only was the Canadian crooner among a wave of pop phenoms vying for the title of "The Next Sinatra" in the late 1950s, he would go on to pen the lyrics to Ol' Blue Eyes' signature song, "My Way," in 1969. So to celebrate his 60th year in showbiz, Anka is paying tribute to the man who arguably made it all possible — both as a formative influence and as a career-defining collaborator. After debuting in 2018, The Anka Sings Sinatra tour extends into spring of 2020. But while the setlist is stacked with Sinatra standards, you'll also hear Anka delve into his own repertoire of classics, as well as his singular interpretations of songs by Elton John, Prince, Creedence Clearwater Revival and many more. As the man himself puts it, Anka Sings Sinatra is a night of "his songs, my songs — my way!"

Paul Anka in Concert

Though he first emerged as a singer in the Sinatra mold, Paul Anka was really the first Justin Bieber — a ‘50s-era prototype for the teen idol. Born in Ottawa, Anka was determined to become a pop star before he hit high school — and after pounding the music-industry pavement in L.A. and New York, he scored an international No. 1 smash with the breezy, brassy confection "Diana," released in 1957 on the eve of his 16th birthday. The hit streak would continue with charmingly self-deprecating ballads like "Lonely Boy" and "Put Your Head on My Shoulder." As his style of innocent, prom-dance pop was displaced by the harder-edged rock ‘n' roll sounds of the ‘60s, Anka also enjoyed a fruitful career as a composer, writing the theme song for The Tonight Show as well as major hits for Tom Jones ("She's a Lady") and Frank Sinatra ("My Way"). But even if his days as a chart-topping artist are behind him, Anka has managed to stay in the contemporary pop conversation. His 2005 comeback album, Rock Swings, gave grunge standards by Nirvana and Soundgarden the Vegas treatment, while his aborted ‘80s-era collaborations with Michael Jackson eventually saw the light of day in the late 2000s — and even earned Anka a songwriting credit on Drake's 2018 album Scorpion, which sampled the Anka/MJ co-write "Don't Matter to Me."

    Great performance

by gmc on 3/25/24Au-Rene Theater at the Broward Center - Ft Lauderdale

At 82, Paul Anka has all the energy that he showed when I saw him 30 years ago at the Valley Forge Music Fair near Philly. Still had a great, powerful voice. more than a singer, he was an entertainer, with entertaining stories and engaged with the audience, who clearly wanted to make a connection with him. He obliged by going out into the audience multiple times. His band was also very accomplished. What I regret is the absence of some of nis wonderful songs, like, "Having My Baby"and "The Times of Your Life".

At 82, Mr. Paul Anka has not slowed down. If anything his voice is stronger than ever. He moves better than ever. I thought this might be the last year he would tour, I actually can’t wait to purchase my tickets for next year. Paul was simply amazing. What a show

    Fabulous Show ... Beyond Expectations

by YeCats on 3/21/24Au-Rene Theater at the Broward Center - Ft Lauderdale

I can't say enough about Paul Anka. OMG What an entertainer, what a show, it was so inclusive, you felt he was right in your living room with you chatting and singing. His wit and interaction with the audience was truly special. The show was so well produced and orchestrated and you can see Paul Anka is physically fit, takes great care of himself, which is probably why his voice is still incredible. If you get a chance to see him anywhere, GO... You will not regret it! He's one of the last of the great entertainers. His writing and musical talent is legendary. Thank you Paul for making my night so very special!

by CME on 3/21/24Au-Rene Theater at the Broward Center - Ft Lauderdale

One of the best concerts I have seen in a long time. Mr Anka is amazing. He looks fantastic and sounds even better. He brought me back more than 60 years to a simpler time. I knew where I was with each song he sang. I loved every minute of my time with Paul.

    Still Going Strong

by John on 3/21/24Au-Rene Theater at the Broward Center - Ft Lauderdale

Paul Anka amazingly continues to perform at a high. He engages with his audience . While those who have seen him several times have heard the stories over and over , it a bit nostalgic that I first saw him on American Bandstand 65 years ago! Keep going Paul!!
