Thought provoking!!
Shea's 710 Theatre - Buffalo
This musical was amazing. The story was honest, raw and real. The acting was amazing.. I was BLOWN away by the children. I loved the way it was shown through the scoope of 3 different times of Al’s life. I cried, I laughed and I went home thinking about it endlessly. I am not much of a musical person but this was worth it!

Fun Home - Buffalo, NY
Shea's 710 Theatre - Buffalo
Fun Home, performed by local production company MusicalFare, was REMARKABLE!! Having seen this show on Broadway, I went in wondering what this would be like in comparison ... it was just as good, IF NOT BETTER! The entire Cast was amazing - especially Chris J. Handley (Bruce, the father), he tore my heart out ... every nuance of his character was fully realized, and you couldn't help but feel every bit of join and pain and conflict he was going through. All (3) Allisons were spot on - watching Adult Allison watch her younger selves was so simple, yet very moving; as well as every other character, they all nailed it. The Orchestra and Set were fabulous as well. I started crying with the Mother's "days" song, and was shot by the end of the show. I laughed, I cried, I was so very moved. Great job, Buffalo!

Shea's 710 Theatre - Buffalo
I was so impressed with the caliber of talent in this show. We in Buffalo are blessed with a plethora of fabulous musicians and actors. It was a pleasure to be a part of the audience and be able to experience this production. It was funny, poignant and thought-provoking all at once. Wonderful!

It's a fun gay ol' time. The scores were well done and the way that the music flowed with the dialogue to convey all the emotion that Ms. Bechdel packed into her comic about her life. I'd come see it again in a heartbeat.

Touching
Rochester Auditorium Theatre - Rochester
Fun Home is a timely and necessary play. The story, while sad , is true for so many people trapped in life. The music adds emotion to the story. The song Ring of Keys sung by the young artist captured my heart.

Not so fun
Rochester Auditorium Theatre - Rochester
Talented cast. Nice message but hated this musical. Dumb corny music and story line. Also very annoyed they hold the audience captive asking for money at the end.

Fun Home is poignant and funny!
Boston Opera House - Boston
It's a rare musical that can evoke both tears and laughter in equal measure. Fun Home takes you inside the world of a real life lesbian cartoonist to watch her coming to grips with her family story and her own coming out story. Insightful and poignant, Fun Home is fully engaging. The ensemble of child actors is talented and memorable.

Fun Home was unbelievably good, don't miss it! Resonates especially well if you have experienced having a mentally ill parent.
Music by Jeanine Tesori; Book and Lyrics by Lisa Kron
Based on the novel by Alison Bechdel
Directed by Dean Bryant
Australian premiere.
A groundbreaking new musical.
After smash-hit seasons on Broadway and in London, Fun Home comes to Sydney in a soaring brand-new production.
Winner of three Tony Awards including Best Musical and Best Original Score, and a finalist for the 2014 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, Fun Home has been hailed as a “beautiful, heartbreaker of a musical” (New York Times) and “one of the best new musicals of our era” (LA Times). Based on Alison Bechdel’s graphic novel, it’s a heartfelt story about coming out and coming of age.
After the unexpected death of her father, Alison is forced to confront his secrets that come to light. Shifting between past and present, we meet present-day Alison, a successful graphic novelist; college-age Alison on the cusp of self-discovery; and precocious-child Alison, who plays in coffins instead of sandboxes in the family’s Bechdel Funeral Home.
Four-time Gold Logie Award winner Lisa McCune and Maggie McKenna (Muriel’s Wedding the Musical) join an exceptional ensemble including Ryan Gonzalez (Jersey Boys), Lucy Maunder (Beautiful: The Carole King Musical), Adam Murphy (Aladdin) and Chloe Zuel (West Side Story). Directed by Melbourne Theatre Company’s Associate Director, Dean Bryant, Fun Home has laughs, drama and great tunes in spades.
Don’t miss this chance to see one of the hottest musicals to come out of the US in a decade.
“Fun Home is not your ordinary Broadway musical, because it is extraordinary.” Time Out New York
