    My first seen WVU play

by Jimbo on 4/12/22Lyell B Clay Concert Theatre - Morgantown

The leading roles were very well chosen. In particular, the performance of the gentleman who played Vidal gave me chills; he did an absolutely expert job. I was a tad disappointed with the introduction prior to the show beginning. The music was fantastic, however, it would have been nice to see something on stage or some visual during this. The instrumental music alone was a bit boring and I would have enjoyed a bit more of an interesting introduction to the show. Everyone during the show seemed to have a lot of fun. I thought that the comedic aspects were particularly well delivered! However there is definitely room for improvement in regards to the choreography; it seemed a bit disorganized. The dance moves themselves appeared to be well executed and it seems everyone certainly put in a great deal of effort. This was my first time seeing a WVU play, and I look forward to more of them in the future!

    Sweet Charity abominable

by TheatreAfficionado on 3/30/14Greensboro Coliseum Complex - Greensboro

Frankly, this was one of the worst performances I have ever seen. The acting was amateurish; the singing was abysmal; and the "dancing" was practically non-existant. Of course, that's only the first 25 minutes -- because I couldn't take anymore and left the theatre. The "set" was too barebones for my taste, and the costumes were cheaply made and not quite right. I lived through the 60s, and the clothes were far from accurate. I have seen high school productions that were better than this mess. What a waste of a lot of money. In the past couple of years, I have been so disappointed by expensive travelling productions that I have decided not to put myself through this torture anymore. I'll stick with community theatre from now on -- it gives far better value for the money.

    Disappointing

by Mcdjohn on 3/21/14Greensboro Coliseum Complex - Greensboro

Compared to other show, I thought this one was lacking in set design and overall quality. The actors were fine, but the show dragged a lot. It cannot compare with Jersey Boys.

We were quite disappointed. The production was"bare bones" at best....no scenery, cheesy props, very few wardrobe changes, poor audio at the beginning and minimal live music accompaniment. I bought the tickets as part of my husband's Christmas gift as we had seen the movie starring Shirley MacLain when we were dating. After looking so forward to seeing it live, we left during the intermission - neither of us were willing to sit through the second act. I sincerely wish it had been a more positive experience.
