My husband and I loved the variety of music and quality of music tremendously!!
My wife and I were front row. A dream come true to see these three guys perform together. What a night!
I expected nothing less from Chick and Christian but I was less familiar with Brian Blades who added the sauce that made it over the top enjoyable! Great performance and the sound was exceptional in Royce Hall!
Chick builds a great rapport with the audience from the beginning - lots of fun, musical interaction. World class musicians who get plenty of opportunities to showcase their talents. They played a ton of classic standards, including pieces by Ellington, Miles, Wayne Shorter, and others. Lots of fun and a great value.
Wow. Chick Corea is amazing. At 78 years young, he is still phenomenal. His energy from the beginning set the tone for an electric evening. He asked for audience participation which was a surprise to me. He’s a legend and performed as legends do - Legendary!
Almost telepathic musical conversation. Such extraordinary musicianship. I left with a big smile on my face.
The show was fantastic. The Cabot has been remodeled and had excellent sound, new seats, bars upstairs and down, etc. BUT they neglected to respace between rows when they spent all the time and money to redo, and it was almost impossible to sit in the seats that are horribly close to the row in front of you. It's too bad because it will definitely affect whether I return. I'm 6' tall, but I don't think it is unreasonable to expect enough legroom in a newly redone theater. Too bad.
I really like Chick Corea and Bela Fleck but this was a slightly uninteresting show. partly because of the seating. We had from row to the left of the stage. Because of the positioning we saw the back of Belas head and no Chick. The Tiles center had a lot of nerve selling those seats as front row. They even squeezes 2 rows of chair seating in front of us. I'm sure they made a profit but we would never be fooled like that again.
When a couple of consummate musicians like Chick Corea and Bela Fleck get together for a night of mutual admiration and musical fluidity, you know it's going to be for the win! It was obvious from the moment they stepped onto the stage that these two are quite fond of each other and enjoy the heck out of playing together. They took turns effortlessly riffing through each others compositions, as well as interpretive nods to Thelonious Mont, Earl Scruggs and even 17th Century Italian Baroque composer Domenico Scarlatti. When you've been a master of your art and your instrument as long as these two have, there is a fluidity and ease that blends together and is infused in both the music and anyone within earshot. I knew it was going to be a good night, but as happens so often with a live performance, my expectations were blown out of the water. Lucky for me and all the folks I was blessed to share this evening with. I lost track of how many times I sighed with pure bliss.
Superbly performed duets with many original pieces. Very moving rifts that kept my head bobbing & my feet taping..I'd love to see them perform again........Thanks Tilles Center.
