About

Brilliantly innovative, heartbreaking, and wickedly funny, HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH is the landmark American musical by John Cameron Mitchell and Stephen Trask that is “groundbreaking and undoubtedly ahead of its time” (Entertainment Weekly). This genre-bending, fourth-wall-smashing musical sensation, with a pulsing score and electrifying performances, tells the story of one of the most unique characters to ever hit the stage.

Directed by Tony Award winner Michael Mayer (Spring Awakening) and winner of four 2014 Tony Awards including Best Musical Revival, HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH played to record-breaking sell-out crowds on Broadway and promises to take the country by storm with what Time Magazine proclaims is “the most exciting rock score written for the theatre since, oh, ever!”

    Know That You're Whole

by JentheGelfling on 3/11/17Paramount Theatre - Seattle

I've been a huge Hedwig fan since the movie was released in 2001. Seeing the much-talked-about stage show for the very first time, this spectacular, emotionally-extravagant production not only lived up to my hopes and dreams, it surpassed them! Kudos to the magnificent cast and crew.

Hedwig was a very strange play

by uptlisa on 3/7/17Fisher Theatre - Detroit

I thought the story was very dark. We had a hard time following what was being said and we thought it was a very weird play. Some people left the theater after the first half hour. Friends of ours disliked it. We didn't really like the music or the story. Hedwig was very talented but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

Hedwig and the Angry Inch -- Horrible Performance!

by LucilleB on 3/7/17Fisher Theatre - Detroit

Lead actor held microphone directly in front of his mouth -- too close, too "foggy", too awful! I and the woman sitting next to me could NOT understand almost everything he said!!! He should have held the micorphone just below his lips and a few inches away from his mouth! Almost nobody laughed at what I assume were jokes, during the performance! I thought, since Neil Patrick Harris and Taye Diggs performed the lead role on Broadway, that it would be an awesome play!!! It was one of the worst performances I have seen...and I have seen hundreds of plays at The Fisher Theater and Masonic Temple!!! My "Overall rating" is a ZERO; NO STARS, but since it is a "*=Required field", I will have to give the performance 1 star. If I could have understood what the characters were saying, I might have thought it was a good, possibly great, play!!!

    Good but bright lights

by seplady on 3/7/17Fisher Theatre - Detroit

I enjoyed the show but, the bright flashing lights made it difficult to see as they seemed to be aimed directly at the eyes. Only other difficulty I had was the accents were difficult to understand the dialog. The story line was a bit difficult to follow when the dialog was unclear. The performances were fantastic and the musicians were great.

A rock n' roll love tale of love and loss

by CatGrace on 3/7/17Fisher Theatre - Detroit

Hedwig is not always a likeable character, but she is endearing to the core in her quest to find love, meaning and acceptance in her life. She may be hard to stomach, but she is, in the end, just like the rest of us. Her songs are beautiful, her jokes ironic (heavily tinged by her East Berlin upbringing), and her show will blow you over.

I had never heard of the show until I seen it. The actors were superb, the lighting was out of this world. A must see!

Hedwig and the Angry Inch was terrible!

by RUEY on 3/5/17Fisher Theatre - Detroit

Our group of 4 left before the end of the first hour. It was very difficult to hear the words of the singer and some of the material was very objectionable. We are all very liberal thinking people who have enjoyed every type of theatre for many years, but this was the worst production we have seen. It's hard to believe it was awarded any Tony's.
