True Love was Love-less
by BaffledbyLove on 4/23/12Burnsville Performing Arts Center - BurnsvilleBizarre and disconnected are the two best words I can find to describe what I witnessed in the first half of this show. The use of space, staging, and lighting were done well in the box theater, but this is where the positive comments end. The acting was very disconnected, and the overplay on sexual tension and innuendos was far too bizarre and unappealing for my tastes. I have attended numerous theatrical productions of all kinds; I tried to keep an open mind as the first act unfolded. It was of no use. I could not connect with the plot, and the use of some very strange acts of unison ~ ie, the characters all lifting their right hands upward at the same time ~ held no meaning and only served to baffle me further. There were a few bright moments of character, but it was too difficult to stay connected to the plot. We left at intermission.
